Hey /vr/ what are some great point-and-click adventures that don't have a bunch of sequels?
I liked Monkey Island and such games but they always have 5 sequels that progressively get worse or something.

>> No.1299323

What about just not playing the sequels? Most of the Lucas adventures have no or only few sequels.

Yu-No has no sequels but it's pretty long by itself.

>> No.1299324

Just play all the LucasArts adventures besides Monkey Island.
Zak McKracken, Maniac Mansion, The Dig etc.

This Anon knows how it is, but he should give a head's up that's an eroge.
If you want something more adventure-y I would recommend Snatcher or The Dig

Snatcher is not point&click.

What game is this? Looks interesting.

For a point and click, I remember liking "the curse of enchantia", haven't played it in a few years however.

Yeah, well, you know.
There's not much difference between the text adventures and point and click genres. But if OP doesn't care for text adventures that's fine.

>> No.1299373

>>1299364
I don't think text adventure should refer to games with graphic portrayal of the situation. Parser adventure seems more appropriate for games with parser input.
List selection and multiple choice adventures are yet another beast.

Broken Sword and Beneath a Steel Sky are great. The Broken Sword sequels are best ignored anyway.

Pic related has only one sequel, with a worse plot but much better puzzles.

Would we consider the Sherlock SEGA CD point and click? I really enjoyed the jap Urusei Yatsura point and click game.

Also, source on the velma pic!

You've obviously never played it. You're just pointing out the most well known things. The protagonist and his old partner are clearly modeled on the actors as they appeared in Lethal Weapon. But that's where the similarities end.

Have you tried the Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes? There are two of them, but you can play them in any order. They're quite good, both as adventure/mystery games, and as like a snapshot into Victorian London.

Shadowgate/Deja Vu/Uninvited are pretty nice games, pretty old though.

It's Kojima. He does stuff like that all the time. And if it's any consolation, Policenauts has the most well-crafted characters and developed world of any game he's taken part in, in my opinion.

Well, you know that only the first two Monkey Island games are canon, right? If you finished the second one, you'd know that you can stop there. Ron Gilbert walked away and so should you.
