If I see a smb3 sprite, I subconsciously expect the game to handle like smb3.

I'd be surprised if they haven't seen everything by now. Purposefully, accidentally, maliciously and/or humorously terrible Mario World hacks have been around since before SMW Central.

Heads up, Raocow is replaying The Second Reality Project - Reloaded on his YT channel. He's also a good source on SMW hacks as he plays through a hack about once a month.

The A2MT series is also really good.

My guess, having experience with a few of those, is that they're pretty good hacks that happen to be so different than what is usually expected of a Super Mario game that they can't really be fairly graded compared to other hacks, yet are still worth playing for their interesting additions or changes to the formula. Keytrastrophe, for example, has a strong emphasis on puzzle-based gameplay.

Another guess is that they're all mostly incomplete hacks that deserve a look despite being unfinished.

He's French Canadian. He started LPing to get a better grasp of English, but developed his crazy speaking pattern in the process. He isn't, just a little french.

It's odd. I hate most LPers but love raocow for some reason. His voice is pleasant and he's just so damn...good-natured, you can tell he's a cool guy. Normally when someone starts singing along to the Mario music I roll my eyes, but with him I can tolerate it. His surreal babbling makes me laugh and there's almost some weird logic to it...again not sure why. I realize it's not for everyone.

When I play a hack I turn to his videos when I get stuck finding a secret entrance. Right now I'm playing "Mario Gives Up" and I recommend it. I'm on World 4 and only the secret levels have been super hard, its' a fair and fun hack.

I downloaded the zip with all of the hacks and dedicated an hour at least to each.

They were all complete shit for various reasons. Some that may have had good level design had awful dissonant music, some tried to include new gameplay mechanics that required you to be on board with it to tolerate.

I just wanted a different map with a bunch of new levels, but none were capable of doing even that. So edgy linkin-park-fan-tier stories, lol mario is killing stuff XD

So much horse shit. Don't believe the infographic that goes with the games. The ones voted best were garbage.
