platforming in general is pretty terrible, but there's always a few titles that speak to you

OP here. I'm not a fan of platforming either. The only two Mario games I like are the original SMB and SMB64, because I played those when I was a kid.

I wouldn't say I don't care for it, but I can't say I enjoy it as much as a lot of people on here. I had a lot more fun with 2, to be honest.

Its to long with no passwords or battery i never stay interested long enough to finish it

i loved DKC2 purely because it was harder than the others. THe lost world levels, in particular "animal antics" was fucking hard. If you complete it to 102% - you'll appreciate it more.

Mario is a fucking hard game. I do not know how I beat these games as a little kid. Replaying through super mario world 1 now. I think its the second where you have to climb all the damn obstacles and if you fall theres no checkpoint. Jesus Christ games were so much harder back then

I disagree with OP, the most disappointing Mario game for me was Super Mario World because it didn't feel much better than Bros 3 in spite of being in a console with twice the power.
I was expecting, Super Mario Bros 3, 2 times better, and I got something about as good as Super Mario Bros 3, but less challenging.
I got my NES in 1992 and my SNES in 1993.

Super Mario 3 sucks a fucking cock

This game is shit, plain and simple.

Oh, let’s all get the warp whistle and warp to “big world”! Too bad big world isn’t fucking fun, like the rest of this game. The entire thing is designed to anger and frustrate you. Oh, you get Kuribo’s shoe on one fucking level! Wow, pardon me while I make the universal motion for a handjob. Kuribo’s shoe fucking sucked. What did it do, exactly? It let you JUMP ON THINGS, something you were able to do the entire fucking game. Oh, also you looked gay.

There are some interesting power-ups in the game, such as Tanookie Mario, Hammer Mario, and Frog Mario. But guess what? You can get them on like 2 levels total, and if you fuck up and get hit ONCE, you lose them, FOREVER. Wow, that’s fun! I love games that demand I play perfectly or have no fun, because I’m a fucking jap who strives for absolute perfection in gaming otherwise I kill myself.

Mario 3 may have been interesting or fun at one time, but the game is a worthless piece of shit in today’s day and age. It’s horribly flawed and full of punch-in-the-dick moments, much more so than it has moments that are just fun to play.

the fact that the games weren't actually that bad was just a happy accident, because nintendo maintains it's quality

the fact that dkc2 itself is seen as a particular victory for the platforming genre is without question a result of that specific article, since people are bandwagon hopping homosex, who can't have their own separate opinions, its just too scary for them

Actually I don't get why it is THAT popular either. I mean it's a great game, but in my opinion World is an awful lot better.

At least think your insults all the way through. World is honestly one of the most static and boring Mario games in the series. Especially when you consider Yoshi's Island eclipsed it in every single way possible and that wasn't even a great game.

I have no idea what you're on about, and I'm pretty sure you're the only one caring about some faget article written by this "sirlin" sperglord no one has ever heard of.
DKC2 became famous because it was a complex precision platformer with beautiful art and music, and coming out in a timely manner after the both critically and commercially extremely successful series debut and its huge ad campaign probably helped as well. Some shithead writing an article had nothing to do with it.

That's certainly not how I remember it. I remember the levels in World being much more clever and interesting. But it'a been a long time since I've played any of them, since I'm not a big fan of either.
