The Syphon Filter games are all of average length and are pretty solid shooters. Fun to run through.

The Divide: Enemies Within is probably my favorite PS game that nobody has played though. It's entirely a Super Metroid ripoff in spirit, but carried over into 3D; non-linear, interesting environments to explore, neat arsenal, etc.

Any Resident Evil game

Tail Concerto is short. Ape Escape is a little bit longer but it's somewhat easy.

One of my favorite, if not my favorite, Puzzle Bobble 4 (AKA Bust-a-Move 4).

Well, depends if you know what you're doing. If you fuck around with your weapons too much (as most people do) then you can hit a wall fairly early on - this is the main complaint the plebs have with this game.

Very fun 100% Non-violent shooter. Typical game lasts 10-20 rounds with each round being no more than 3 minutes long. Rounds last longer and give more bullets on easy mode but there typically are less rounds on easier modes. The rounds are shorter and there's more of them on harder modes.
