Kamaitachi is the best, fast , strong attacks. He just cannot throw the same as the others, he needs to grab while attacking which is a bit weird but works nicely.

Ninja is awesome too, has good grabs, I like his Up+Attack special too. And dashing is great.

Kunoichi is def the worst. Slower and Weaker than the others.

Kunoichi is fine. Also, she's faster than Ninja. Ninja is fucking dirt slow for movement and help you if you get bad positioning or have to avoid rockets, it ain't happening.

Even though the gameplay still had a lot of kinks to work out, I think the first Darkstalkers game had the best presentation in the series. Even the character select screen had neat little touches like the character select icons animating as you hovered over them.

Yeah, Kunoichi is "fine", but she's still the least efficient character in the game, and nothing can change that.

So what if she's faster than Ninja?

Ninja:
1) Only 2 normal hits to bring out his combo ender. Also, two crouching punches can cancel into the standing finisher too.

2) His combo ender hits front and back and does major damage

3) The Kunoichi's most damaging move is grab, (hold) down+atk. This move can be HIT out of. Ninja's most damaging move is grab, down+atk. He is INVINCIBLE before and slight after this move, allowing him to grab another foe immediately afterward.

4) The Ninja's speed is offset by his charging dash, which (1) goes under enemy projectiles (2) travels a very far distance (3) stuns enemies, allowing you to grab them. This is extremely useful against bosses, because the shoulder charge penetrates blocking.

5) The ninja has a throw that clears out in front and back of him (up throw). You can choose to throw an enemy in front or back by holding diagonal up+back/forward.

6) Excellent reach on all his attacks

Rockets are only 1% of the game, m80. They're IRRELEVANT compared to the more important aspects of the game: CROWD CONTROL and knocking down enemies quickly, efficiently, and safely.

Simply put, the kunoichi has absolutely and utterly NO WAY of being as effective as the other two characters.

People think this game is easy. Well, they're playing on EASY which is the default difficulty. Playing on HARD is an entirely different story. The kunoichi WILL suffer because her regular combo is just simply ASS. it takes too long to bring out the combo ender (which knocks down) and her reach is garbage. The best thing for kunoichi to do is use her speed to grab and crowd control. However, compared to Ninja (1) who can shoulder tackle to grab even MORE efficiently (2) who has MAJOR invincibility frames in his throws (unlike Kunoichi and her down+atk throw) (3) who can clear both front and back w/ his throws (up+atk)

the kunoichi only has walking speed over Ninja. Also her hyper jump (for the lack of a better term) is excellent. But her offense is simply inferior to the others in damage and efficiency. I cannot stress enough that the most important things in this game (at least when playing HARD mode) is knocking down enemies QUICKLY and safely, so that you don't get gang-banged on both sides.

Once again, the kunoichi is a good character, but IN COMPARISON to the other two, she is the weakest. No debate.

Depends on your definition of efficient. If your definition of efficient meant getting raped in a corner or taking significant damage from rockets falling on your head. Then yeah she's pretty inefficient. Her head bounce kick makes her less viable to get hit and she has a proper grab allowing her stun/invulnerability frames unlike kamaitachi who has has to time fairly precisely and close in further.

Wut? He gets shot when he charges. He can also be kicked and attacked during the charge. It also leaves you potentially vulnerable to attack briefly afterwords.

As for the rockets, they would be more irrelevant if they weren't such a fucking problem for Ninja to smooth pass through. A properly placed rocket is unavoidable entirely.
I'm not saying he's bad, I'm saying he has his weaknesses and when you can take significant and sometimes unrecoverable abuse because of his speed it's definitely a weakness, one not shared by kunoichi who's dash grab and kick flip also cover crowd control well. Ninja's very beneficial and damaging grabs don't make him overpowered, they make him fucking playable. Without them he'd be junk for his slow speed, slow attack and low mobility. That offsets it.
Also, shoulder tackle in a crowd often will get you hurt for it. Dash kick is generally better option for crowds.

First of all, Kamaitachi is the best single character in the game. That right there cannot be debated. His lack of a throw is not even a weakness when 1) he can get a throw off of ONE punch. ONE. This means that, unlike the other characters, he doesn't have to even grab an enemy to throw them. Time precision my ASS. It's easy as hell to get his throws off, maybe you should stop playing Kunoichi and give the other characters a thought. Maybe instead of MASHING, you should try pressing punch once, then back+punch next. 2) his back throw affects ALL enemies that he touches with his punch. You can literally toss 3-4 enemies simultaneously. That is (a) hilarious (like madden '92 ambulance funny) (b) effective (c) awesome. Oh noz some boss is blocking my standing punch and i can't throw him.. just punch his kneecaps. (1) choose kamaitachi (2) crawl (only morons WALK with kamaitachi) (3) punch kneecaps (do a backthrow once in a while to prevent boredom) (4) win game.

Now then, back to the other two characters.

Why do you keep mentioning Rockets? There are only three sections in the entire game that have falling rockets from the sky. That's like less than 5% of the game.

Seriously? You think Kunoichi's hopkicks are good? That move does pitiful damage and won't get you anywhere against (1) cannon fodder that keep respawning (2) stronger enemies w/ much more HP

Maybe you're doing the dashing kick? Do the charge by itself to go under bullets. Then grab. Who ever said to be a newb and shoulder-charge into a group of enemies. Play smart.

Why don't you mention the Ninja's awesome combo ender? Maybe since you use the Kunoichi so much you're not used to doing her full combo because it's the worst in the game? Try using the Ninja's combo more? Please? It's fucking awesome? Great damage. Crowd Control. Great reach. And most importantly the combo ender doesn't take forever to come out like Kunoichi's.
