If you continue reading it does. Also you have to know the true meaning of Kreuz in this context- not "cross" but the sacrum, it's colloquial for "lower back". "Leg sie aufs Kreuz" means "put them on their back", they are talking about the turtles and crabs, as the text continues: "Because only if they are lying on their back Mario and Luigi can save themselves from the dangerous turtles and crabs."

Yes, German ain't easy for non-natives

Mortal Kombat was always selling a lot (even during PS2 era) but from the third game and after there wasn't the craze it had at the first two games. The first was the huge phenomenon because it popularised the over the top violent games at the mainstream market and the second one improved the formula. And in popularity terms it was the only big rival for the other phenomenon of the era called Street Fighter II. With the coming of the third MK game the 3D fighting games like Virtua Fighter and Tekken started to make their appearance and get the attention of the gamers that now looked at MK as something really dated. That and the fact that mature games at the mainstream market was something usual now and there were better choices like Killer Instinct and later Mace - The Dark Age.

I'm looking for a Resident Evil (possibly RE: Directors Cut) ad that ran in the UK.
It's an overhead shot of a bathtub full of blood on a black and white checkered floor with bloody footprints leading away from it.
Apparently there was some big controversy over the ad and it's banned or something now.

They actually considered using them in SF2 at one point. Really dodged a bullet there. On the other hand, the wacky response of those pressure buttons was also one of the reasons that they put so much effort into making special moves easy to perform in SF2, so at least one good thing came form their legacy.

Speaking of SF2, here's a commercial for Super Turbo, featuring a live action Cammy. Also note the sunburst finish effect caused by a standard Shoryuken; in some prerelease builds of SSF2T any special move would cause that effect if used to finish off the opponent, not just super moves.

Same.

I would spend hours on the floor of my grandparents kitchen or living room with the Toys'R'Us Catalog and the Sears catalog with a black ink pen writing out my Christmas wish list(s). I can't help but hear that stereotypical, Danny Elfman-esque music that would play at the start of an average 90's family movie when I see the right pic. Also with "expanding" under his face.

You know what music I'm talking about? The ones that have trumpets and violins playing cheery music as it shows the dad crashing into the garden gnome and flies 90 feet in the air, before he lands in the couch?

I never got that Saturn either bro. But in retrospect considering how quickly it died I guess I should be grateful. I remember wanting a Game Gear too, and my Dad actually got a Nomad instead. Being a retarded kid I complained and told him it wasn't the right thing.

>Hold the fucking phone...this plays GENESIS games? Sonic 2 where ever I want?!? Fuck yes!

I soon realized that what I had was pretty fucking sweet and shut up about it. It later got stepped on by my little brother, crushing the screen and rendering it a useless paper weight. RIP Nomad, you were pretty fucking cool on long trips with the cigarette adapter plugged in. ;__;7

That made me cringe, because I chipped off half of one of my front incisors while swimming a couple of months ago. I wasn't even doing anything crazy. I was just swimming breast stroke at max speed and hit my mouth on the side of the pool. My tooth was so hard, I got a concussion. I couldn't see an oral reconstruction surgeon for a week afterwards, so I couldn't eat anything solid. I was messed up and nauseous from the concussion. I'm still shaken up by it.

I know it's not a "find that ad" thread, but I suppose I might as well ask...

It was an ad for an isometric game, mid-to-late 90's, probably PC; the player character had just shot some mook, and there were blood splatters and gibblets on the wall behind him, with lines that pointed to them, indicating things like "bit of his spleen", "his third and fourth vertebrae", stuff like that.

Someone else mentioned it here a while ago, and it's been bugging me since. Rings any bells?

In case anyone's curious and doesn't wanna read the whole ad, he refers to Shadows of the Empire for N64.

>I still have that game. The only reason I replay it is for nostalgia, not for the graffix. ;_;

You should replay it because it was fucking fun. I wish I still had my copy. I'm still waiting to find a copy in the wild. For some reason I haven't seen it in ages.

You forget inflation too.
If this is from 96-97, thats a little over $100 in present day money. That's nuts.

Keep in mind the games that were more than $60 generally had special chips in them. That's why those were usually more expensive than the other games.

It's crazy how cheap the console was compared with the games themselves.

>> No.1244626

All the people complaining about prices don't seem to remember (if they were around to remember) that cartridges were also much more expensive to produce.

Development costs may have increased as games become more and more grand in scope (and shallower in creativity and such), but once the developers make their money back in sales, it's pretty much pure profit. CDs and DVDs are much cheaper to manufacture.

I hardly ever seen games this expensive at that time, what gives? Isn't Toy's r Us supposed to be expensive with their products anyways? I know for a fact that Kmart overcharged on their games.
