There was some vid posted on /v/ a while back of some autistic genius who had worked out a trick to get pretty much unlimited 1ups in a level of Super Mario World.

Fucked if I can remember what vid it was though

The old FF games are FILLED with hilarious bugs.

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Bugs_and_Glitches

FF6 has a risk of deleting the data on the cartridge if Relm's sketch skill misses.

FF1 calculated the critical hit rate of a weapon based on its internal index number and not the actual intended crit rate.

FF5 lets you skip the final boss if you use a certain item combination that causes the berserk status on his first form, because it prevents the script that triggers his transformation from executing.

FF6 is crazy for bugs.

It's actually one of the big differences between FF6 and Chrono Trigger, as CT was surprisingly well-made, whereas FF6 was full of holes

Data execution is always wonderful though.

I like the glitch in SMW that allows you to get one of those "?" balls in your item slot. Speedrunners use it to skip the first castle.

This is the first time I've heard about her. What's the issue?

Actually, forget it, don't answer that. We want to avoid inviting /v/ shit into this thread.

I have a question, since the video starts with Pokemon. If the US version was the bug-fixed version, how broken was the original Japanese version? Would the game actually bug out for not taking a specific route or something?

And since we're on Pokemon, was Pokemon RBY the very first JRPG to have NPC sprites "stand still" instead of wobbling left and right? I think they changed that in the SNES era, but many 8-bit JRPGs had that flipping animation for standing.

Anyone remember the double glitch combo in serpent's isle?

The first glitch is that if you go into the Silver Seed module and kill the healer, and then you yourself get killed, it makes you immortal when you arise, at least as long as you're in Silver Seed.

Normally, it fades when you leave, the serpent gate resetting thing.

But bug #2, that if you touch the columns in the main hall, teleporting you to the test of purity in the Furnace, makes your immortality permanent.

So the guy just simply switched positions of his Pokemon and the item and the world got thrown out of balance?

I really want to know how this game was programmed. Did the programmers JUST learn how to program Game Boy games?

She goes into the Jap version a bit in Part 3 of the OP video.

tl;dr: they took out a lot of the absolutely game-breaking glitches from the Jap versions, but missed a lot of the minor ones like missingo in Red and Blue, some of which they then corrected for Yellow

Watch the OP vids, she explains how to do 1min speedruns by manipulating the save file so you walk out your front door and straight into the the congratulations room after beating Blue
