Garou MOTW> Third strike

we all know it's true

>> No.1223443

Pretty much. SNK fighters have always been better than Capcom fighter.

>>1223443
No they're not...

>> No.1223476

Garou was legitimately made to be SNK's Street Fighter III. So on originality, nah. On music, nah. On gameplay, it's close but 3S is better (other versions of SFIII are terrible). Graphically they're pretty even, but SFIII has much better character design and implementation.

>Graphically they're pretty even

Garou runs smoother, has more detail in the backgrounds and more stuff going on compared to third strike, on dated hardware no less. Third strike backgrounds look barren and hardly have anything happening.

>>1223540

>Hugo's stage fucking explodes every time anything happens
>tons of detail in every stage including things happening

Also, your smoother comment is simply bias since both run at exactly the same frame rate and 3S actually has more animation in their sprites than MotWs does.

The only thing MotWs has over 3S is it is more balanced as a whole homogenous cast.

Compare it to this, Lot's of shit happening, minor attention to detail.

Third Strike > Garou > Double Impact > Next Generation

>>1223565

You have to remember that 3S was just another rerelease of SF3, which came out in '97. Garou came out in '01.

I'll take cherry picking for $100, Alex. The twins stage is supposed to evoke barren city at night. Whereas Elena's is a sunset with full animation. Also, I am glad that no 3S stage decided to have those 10 frame repeatable animated "people moving around" stages. Always looked tacky as fuck to me and would eventually seem ridiculous.

Again, name me one MotWs stage that actually has interactable moments?

The transition between the intro and idle stance is missing in alex's

garou came out in 1999

have you even played garou? people in the background react to certain things and effects change every round.

The stage I posted earlier?

Go find Elena's win poses. Especially that one where she tries to be sexy. Blows that shit away for amount of frames.

Whoops, I'm thinking of the date of the Dreamcast port, but SF3 is still the older game.

You mean that one where she handstands and does the splits?

>> No.1223606

>>1223602

No, the bow one. The handstands still has tons of frames though.

There is nothing in the vein of Hugo's stage in MotWs. I've played both games for like half my life competitively.

>> No.1223624

Garou is a pretty bad game at a competitive level.
Just Defend is a garbage mechanic.

>> No.1223629

I prefer Real Bout 2 over both.

>>1223624

Parrying ain't much better. Man, Remy was fucked in that game before it was even made. Who wants a somersault kick that can be ignored while jumping in?

>> No.1223641

>>1223631

Both mechanics change how you deal with offense. In your example, Remy isn't going to use RRF unless he sees the opponent threw out an air normal. His projectile game is to bait parries and set up cold blue kicks. His only problem as a character is his low stun and health which was an oversight on the creators. With normal health and stun Remy would be mid tier.

>> No.1224202

Guilty Gear XX #Reload is far better than both.

We both know this, in fact I sponsor a competitive player, but I don't think it counts as /vr/.

...unless you want to talk about the original PSX release.

>> No.1227116

I never, EVER liked Third Strike's VA. Double Impact overpasses it in that aspect

Gill actually sounds badass and more maniac

It's a tough call because both are excellent games.

>> No.1230118

Sorry OP
Last Blade 2 > both of those awesome games

>> No.1230140

>>1227562
Is so.

>> No.1230175

I love them both equally, but then again I'm awful at fighting games. I button mash through the single player and just judge them on characters/moves/settings/music/animations, all the surface level stuff.
