Anyway, I like it when he delivers his opinions in a restrained and structural way. He actually seems like he does the research and forms his opinions accordingly.

However, when he starts putting up his middle fingers and shrieking "THIS IS A LOAD OF BULLFUCK," into the trash his opinion goes.

All of his hardware/accessories videos over the years have been 10/10 pieces of informative and funny entertainment.

The rest of the AVGNs are very hit and miss.

Very poor and inconsistently written reviews.(Actually listen to what he has to say rather than how he says it)

Most of his skit work is reprehensible and if he wasn't such a competent filmmaker(competent for YouTube at least), they'd be vomit inducing.

I still wanna like him as a person, but his body of work tries so hard to make himself unappealing in some way or another. He really, REALLY, should have called it quits after a certain point and pursued his dream and start out small by directing episodes of television shows or something.

AVGN is great. He's got the overacting side to him that is hard not to groan about, but he's hard not to like because he's well informed and genuinely intelligent.

That being said, as far as reviews go:
cr1tikal (penguin0)? is more entertaining.

I like Mark better. I dislike AVGN because he's trying to make a character out of himself. I can't sit and watch someone sperging out over nothing.

I've been a fan of AVGN since his BttF review back in 2006. Since then I've watched almost every single video he's ever put out on Cinemassacre.

James himself is one of the coolest people I've ever seen. He's extremely nice and humble in real life, and he has so much ambition and love for filmmaking I can't help but salute him. AVGN on the other hand hasn't been very good for a while. I maintain that starting in 2010, the reviews started sucking. 2008 was the pinnacle of his quality and popularity. I think somewhere down the line he forgot what actually made AVGN funny, and thought it was cursing and saying something about a random animal's asshole while it shits diarrhea in your mouth.

If you go back and watch his 2006-2007 reviews, all the humor comes from how nonchalantly he spits out one-liners. As if his videos weren't even scripted. He never overplayed his part, and he didn't develop the overused "angry face" until later.

I like how he's different to GAMEPLAY STREAMING VOICEOVER MAN #237 who is hip and topical and has opinions in line with /v/ or whatever /v/ is raging against.

Really, it's nice to see something genuine these days. In part because they're retro games and he won't be lynched by whatever crowd he butthurts with his reviews, in part because the character is an act anyway.

I really liked his videos in the past. Watched them all as they came out with my friend. He'd come over to my house or I'd go to his and it's the first thing we'd do after getting home. They were always pretty high quality and I don't think anyone has ever really matched them (except Game Grumps, who do a different style). I like that he actually puts time and thought into them and makes a 10-25 minute entertainment show rather than a 2-5 minute review like many people do. That's what makes it fun.

Unfortunately, his gimmick is running dry. You can only get away with the "fuckshitwhore" and costume crap for so long and the time's almost up. To be honest, the costume crap and the fake bodily fluids were always kind of dumb to me. Maybe Jason was okay. That's it.

I think he's way more interesting when he's actually being James Rolfe and just talking about games rather than portraying a childhood character he made up at 18ish and had to keep around. I think others are getting tired of it too. It's not that we're growing up, it's just that it's getting old after like 150 episodes of it. I mean, seriously, it's been, what, almost a decade? And he's still just barely changing it up. And that's assuming you even liked the gimmicks in the first place.

his older stuff was much better. it all feels over produced and like a parody of its former self.

mike is the definition of riding on coat tails. he would be no where without james. his videos aren't the least bit interesting, and james videos featuring him are made worse by his autism.

Dr Sparkle has such a soothing voice excellent shit to fall asleep to and learn a lot about games you have never heard of. He has chronsega covering master system and has made it to the launch of the genesis, 3 episodes of chrontubro covering the turbografx really awesome found a bunch of games I will have to get a turboeverdrive and play. and of course his main show chrontendo is pretty solid good informative stuff.

Unlike a lot of others around /vr/ apparently, I'm not put off by his occasionally less than stellar reviews and don't let them inhibit my enjoyment of his better material. The Tiger Electronics review was great in my opinion and that was only 2 reviews back so he hasn't lost his touch by any means. Also, his movie reviews, Monster Madness series, and Board James series are all fun to watch as well. I'd much rather watch his stuff than most of the shit on TV.

I like his movie reviews and occasional hardware videos. But i dodge anything with MM in it.

His best reviews are probably Bible Games, Nintendo Accessories and Power Glove

It's not like he said "the game's awesome" and only showed bits of it. Hell he didn't say where to buy it or anything until the very end in the credits along with all the other AVGN games.

If it was just an advertisement for his game on Steam he wouldn't have reviewed every single fanmade game of him in existence and give some of them bad ratings.

Gonna have to agree with this. He went with a more bitter and subdued anger in those reviews as opposed to the over the top rage and scatological ramblings you see in some of his other videos.

I love his Pong Consoles episode.
