That piece of shit isn't old and I have no interest in play on, in, or around him.

2600 games play fine on anything because the graphics are so bad it looks like blocks on matter what you use. Anything else you'll want a CRT

I had a Zenith with the channel nobs as a kid that I remember playing NES on in my basement

I used to hide under my dad's desk while playing Friday the 13th because I was afraid of Jason coming into the room from around the divider

No.

They aren't bad though. Properly maintained CRTs back in the day were fairly good quality.

But it'll be fine on any modern SDTV/EDTV as well. You'll still get a nostalgic crappiness because most of the noise you get when playing is from the atari's piss poor output. I don't know if grounding the actual output would help any.

The biggest thing about using older TVs is that tend to have a more comfortable aesthetic to them, especially the wood paneled ones.

>> No.1215674

>>1215642
Wow, didn't expect a TV like that to show scanlines that defined.

As for the Atari's output, it definitely helps NOT to use the original switch box it came with. An RCA to RF adapter goes a long way toward making it look better, I find.

Yeah a lot of vintage TVs are fairly clear and sharp. Obviously not high resolution, but a lot of the time the problem is shitty antenna / crappy source video. The largest typical problem most older TVs have really is overscanning, which makes games a bitch.

Trinitron master race. Seriously you'll be a master racer if you practice with that thing on your back like 100 times gravity. But seriously. It was a joke. Like my post. Its all about nostalgia. Although the reception for status should be getting better due to the switch to digital signals.

>> No.1216490

>>1216482
So I'm not the only one who noticed the Atari's output got a little cleaner post-digital switch. I have heard it was also quite clean back in the late 70's/early 80's, then got considerably worse as the airwaves got more polluted, though I can't back that up personally.

Bad hair day, anon? But seriously, I think modern TVs are superior to watch stuff on, because there's less distraction from content.
They look nice to just have around though, just not to actually use frequently.
