For that one you just have to remember to only use the super jump while jumping vertically, and to use the normal jump on the horizontal parts. I got stuck on that level for quite a while as a kid because I only used the super jump.

Honestly, the only thing that's really tricky in that game is the collapsing platforms in the sand people level and the Cantina boss. He's a bitch and beating him is kind of luck based.

Here's a good tip for the Iron Knuckles; get about your jump distance away from your target and leap at them. When you're just coming down attack them. Their shield will be useless with this move if you do it right. Even if you don't do it right hitting their shield will knock them back and allow you to take another shot. Just try to avoid fighting them where you can't get to your full jump height.

Also, if enemies ever drop magic cast Life if you're even slightly damaged. Blue enemies are slightly more likely to drop magic containers too.

Just practice with the orange bastards in the first dungeon. They're pretty slow and once you can get them in the cycle you're pretty much ready for the red and blue knights. >> No.1212147

>>1212145

Magic is necessary to getting past the first area. Each town has a spell to learn and most spells are required to finish the game. Shield and Life aren't technically required, but you're unlikely to beat the game without those.

The first town has Shield and you don't need to do anything but look for it. All the other spells require some manner of task be completed.

Yes, just make sure you beat the first palace before you tackle the caves near the start. Also, even though many people would probably suggest against it, I personally tackle Death Mountain after the first dungeon so I can acquire some very important abilities in the fourth town Mido. Also, my image of Link speaking is a hint for the most important spell in the game.

>What kind of game is it
A kind of puzzle/pong game where you bounce your rotating space ship off of 'stuff' in order to progress. But your ship has fuel which decreased at a steady rate if you don't hit things, and there is a fuel penalty if your ship goes off screen (by not getting hit by the paddles).

This game was so frustrating.

Here it is from beginning to end:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQE5YRNNQSA

>3-D glasses
I have no recollection of ever having these when I got the game. As seen in the vid, the ship goes in and out of the screen, and the glasses probably give the player the impression of their ship popping out as it moves by.

Kato-chan Ken-chan aka J.J & Jeff in the US.

Let's leave out the intricately times jumps, secrets (harder with the language barrier), and tricks the game plays on you - like a hidden warp pad in the final level that send you back to the start if the game (you can hit this pad easily by missing a certain jump).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaIAhMR09BQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player

The guy i that video, IIRC he's doing that on real hardware.

It's the amount of shit the game throws on screen as the levels progress, especially those later levels. Especially the fire hussys, blue flames and shit birds. The long rows of campfires that mean instant death.

This fuckin game, is up there with G&G in difficulty. Even when you use the level warps that shorten it drastically.

Alot of games were easier back in the day because you where a kid, had nothing else to do, and were very enthused back then about vidya games.. I can remember have not much trouble beating ninja gaiden, TMNT, ninja gaiden 2, zelda 2.. got to the level after the snake one on battletoads, speeder bikes werent that hard.. Most games where really simple, they just took time, and practice, which most people dont have patience for now a days..

Even ghosts and goblins is a simple game with predictable mechanics, it just takes incredible patience..

Games that where hard for me, where games where sudden, erratic, badly programs bullet hell moments occurred and irratic enemy swarms which bogged the hardware and made it difficult to navigate and you also had to move at the same time.. games like kid icarus, monster party..

Not much else.. i pretty much beat about 80 percent of the games i rented durring nintendo and snes era.

Trust me.. People say theyre alot harder now.. its mostly a patience issue.. time has moved on other cheaper easier thrills occupy ones mind and they are neglegent.. you know sex and all the progression of pleasure and patience.. no one has patience for such unrewarding things, time has moved on.

It was also a different era for video games.. more action, less storyline, things moving along much faster and unforgivably.. You got much more pratice at that kind of gameplay back then.
