One after the other. Pick one already,

Having never played any, but have asked the same question to /vr/ this is what I concluded:

Xenogears: Everyone loves it, but most people will complain/warn you about the second disc

Chrono Cross: It's a mixed bag of opinions, the people who liked it, loved it, the people who hated it curse it to oblivion for not being a proper follow-up to Chrono Trigger. Either way everyone agrees it has one of the, if not the best score in video game music.

Forgot to mention that Xenogear story is oftenly praised as one of the best in jRPGs, tackling very serious affairs, but still being able to remain grounded.

I'm one who always took Chrono Cross as its own "thing," and I still think it's a great game but the story is pretty shaky and the large cast of characters isn't quite as neat when you realize that only a small handful of them are developed.

Yeah, go ahead and replay it. That's my vote.

CC has better graphics, XG has better story and battles. Both have stellar music. Go with Xeno.

Story in Xenogears is overwritten bullshit and you know it. Religious and philosophical pseudoreferences are badly researched and silly. Thank god I was 13 when I played the game, because I would never have managed to suffer through that as an adult.
