Just out of curiosity, anyone had experience with Adventure of Hourai High School on the SNES? I played the first 15 minutes and it seems pretty good so far. Just wanted to see what other's opinions are on the game.

>> No.1182484

I haven't but I may give it a try now that you've brought it to my attention OP. What I've briefly read about it sounds interesting enough.

I had no idea this existed, will give it a go

Is it pure moon runes w/ no trans?

I also played it for about 15 minutes and thought it was pretty good

I played it a bit, it's very interesting. Unique as hell, I've never played a JRPG like it before.

>> No.1182654

I remember not liking it, too episodic.

This looks good, I think I'll try it out later tonight.

It's goofy, the "Class" system is neat, the weakest link is perhaps the rate of random encounters tripping you up when you just want to get to point B from point A. If you don't mind pretty generic turn based combat it should be alright for you.

>> No.1182886

Stupidly high encounter rate, too boring.

>> No.1182965

I played it about 60% through, the strong points are the goofy scenarios and the jokes. And infiltrating the militantly feminist all-female dorm.

>And infiltrating the militantly feminist all-female dorm.

They weren't really militant. It was just a dorm full of females, dude.

I just keep hoping that this game will spur translations of some other strange SNES RPGs.

Other than that, Hourai High is a pretty decent game with a lot of charm.

That's some Junji Ito tier shit going on there.

The commercial is also pretty great.

I played it earlier this year. Thoroughly enjoyed this game. There's a surprising amount of little side quests and funny shit in this game. On top of that, the combat and job system are nice and you can recruit a shit ton of characters, on top of being able to use 8 of them at any time in battle.

My only complaint was that the english patch made the game crash after doing certain things like reviving a character or using some character's special abilities in battle.

That is good to know, music can make or break an RPG like this (especially when it's being compared to Earthbound)

>> No.1186871

to the person that is posting pics... how have you gotten so far without the game crashing at some point? what emulator are you using? the translation patch for this game is so broken.

>> No.1186880

>>1182590
it may be fully translated, but the translation hack is full of game breaking bugs that the translation group refuses to fix, instead lying and saying that the bugs were in the orginal game.

Shit, my bad. I don't know how really. I just tried to avoid using such actions after they crashed my game. Stuck it out because I really liked the game.

Also I just used SNES9x.

Pretty sure it's your emulator that's broken.
