Any good rpgs that take place in a wintry setting?
Please don't say Daggerfall, that one is obvious.

I've asked about that on /v/ some time before /vr/ existed and got almost nothing, to be honest. Many RPGs have winter locations, but whore wintry settings are rare on nonexistent.

I like winter. I wish I could find a snow-themed game, too. Not necessarily RPG, any adventure game would do.

Come to think of it, Syberia and the sequel, but I don't like point-and-clicks. Too bad for you and me, OP. Too abd.

Not retro though.

I am in the same boat here. My favourite places in video games is the ice worlds. Donkey Kong Country is a big reason for this because it has such a beautiful snow area.

You should check out Aconcagua. It requires some moonspeak knowledge, though.

Aconcagua, yeah, and, though not retro, D2 is all winter.

Not only is it retro, but a great game, too!

Winter Voices.

> Retro is a term used to describe aspects of modern culture which are consciously derivative or imitative of those trends, modes, fashions, or attitudes of the recent past which have or had come to be seen as unfashionable.

May be a bit of a stretch to call it an RPG, but there you go

Same engine as Baldur's Gate 1, unless you're talking about HoW which crudely tacked on the BG2 alterations and was even a bit slower, same issue with the character sprite styling. I seemingly had a small design team, probably why it took them a while since BG1 to release, though it hardly turned the software on it's head. Okay, it had a little OpenGL acceleration added on, but that really didn't mess with the game, it did actually make it a bit faster, unlike later on.

Using the same engine does not make it the same platform.
If it was an addon that required a pre-cutoff game that's a different story but sequels and spinoffs released outside the frame are not considered retro here even when they are practically identical. Faithful remakes however are allowed.

Whenever I play an RPG game where I can choose my element type in any way I usualy choose wind lightning or ice. I hate windy, and stormy levels in games all together, but I haven't come a cross a snow or ice themed stage or environment I hated.

If you're talking about for what's classified as retro. The official cut off is the year 2000. The rule for consoles is any game for any console pre-20000.
Using OS doesn't make any sense and many games weren't made explicitly for one OS they just required a minimum OS.
