If you're in to point'n'clicks then I recommend The Longest Journey. I don't think the puzzles are anything special but there's something about this game that I found very soothing.

Morrowind.

Any older Civ game.

My Summer Holidays

A game that simulates spending the summer in the country with your aunt and uncle. This game is undefeatably comfy during the summer months but now that the holidays are approaching can anyone think of a game to challenge it?

After much discussion on the topic here on /vr/ I feel it is an extremely dominant contender for comfiest game in existence.

But all those discussions were over the summer because /vr/ is a babby. Maybe other things make people comfy in the winter. or fall!

Could someone describe to me what exactly is a comfy game?

>> No.1163382

>>1163345
Via the encyc net:

>Games that evoke a comfortable feeling, e.g. not causing any physically unpleasant feelings or producing physical comfort.
>Contrary to games that are intended to actively challenge the player by placing them in consistently harsh and unforgiving situations, "comfy" games have opportunities for the player to relax and enjoy the atmosphere, not forcing them to press onward toward a particular goal via a time limit or sense of urgency.
>Examples include such varied things as Myst, Tomba, Harvest Moon, Morrowind...

Not sure if it qualifies are retro but it's chill, a fun game and absolutely related to your pic.

Crap, sorry. I have /v/ open in another tab and thought it was a /v/ thread. I should have known it was /vr/ because it isn't a shit thread. Still, if you want to take a break from playing retro games on your Wii, Endless Ocean is awesome.

Most comfy game I've ever played: Yoshi's Story. Sure, it can be kinda exciting at times, especially during the final boss battle, but the whole game is chill as fuck.

Most Kirby games are excellent for this. Super Star has great, varied environments, Nightmare in Dreamland/Kirby's Adventure is super easy, and if you want to go a bit newer then The Amazing Mirror has a little more challenge and the best world in a Kirby game in my opinion. Absolutely enormous, so much to explore.

I never had an N64 so I don't know anything about Crystal Shards.

Imagine taking any Kirby, make it slower, make it easier, replace the graphics with choppy 3D polygonal textures, but still manage to make it an okay game with fun but slow hot potato multiplayer. You now have played Kirby 64. That said, ya its pretty comfy.

I'm probably in a minority of one, but I found this game extremely comfy. I'm old fashioned enough to like reading through the little booklet that came with it.

McDonald's Treasureland Adventure on Genesis. Don't discount it as just a licensed game, it is from Treasure.

>> No.1170608

It's one of Treasure's worst Genesis games.

And it's still legit.
