As everyone knows Zelda CD-i games aren't considered by Nintendo as part of the Zelda cannon, therefore they're not part of the Zelda timeline. But let's just say that Nintendo includes them at the timeline just for the laugh. What kind of place would it have at the timeline? It could be something like Link's Awakening where his adventures took place on a dream world that faded at the end of the game.

Also Zelda CD-i general thread.

>> No.1152553

I wouldn't mind if it took place in a dream because it's pretty fucking surreal, even for a Zelda game.

At the same time, part of me likes it when silly shit is real and canon to an otherwise serious universe.

The games where Zelda was the main character could be an illusion that Zelda had after taking many drugs while she was waiting for Link to save him.

I'm wondering, could the CD-i game have been decent? For example, you could hack the first few Zelda games to make them resemble these games? The NES games have better mechanics than the CD-i games, not to mention controller, so they could've been decent if they were competently programmed.

With the limited budget and deadline they had if they were focusing into making only one game maybe we would see something decent. Remember the cancelled Super Mario's Wacky Worlds? It looked quite well-made.

CD-i Zelda games are one of the few things that would benefir from a gritty, darker reboot.

Was the second Zelda CD-I game as bad as the former?I know the one starring Zelda was awful, but wasn't there a second one on the CD-I starring Link? Was it as bad?

In general I like the idea of rebooting bad games to be better. I understand why they do remakes of good games (Marketability), but I think it would be interesting to see a remake of a terrible one, considering there is actually much to be improved.

If there's one good thing that Zelda CD-i games did is that for a change they made Zelda as the main character. Sure, in later games (like Spirit Tracks) Zelda had a more active role instead of being the damsel in distress but still it wouldn't hurt to see a spin-off being the main character. Nintendo did it with Princess Peach and it worked fine (despite the complains of some faggots for being too easy and sexist). Heck, even Tingle has his own games, so why not Zelda? And give some action for King Harkinian as well. It would be awesome to see a king taking the lead instead of relying to others just like in the beginning of Dragon Quest 5.

bullshit, somewhere between OoT and Wind Waker they made the decision to reference the myths of previous games

This pretty much trumps any timeline theories. Nintendo is being pretty cool by putting out an official timeline, but it honestly doesn't mean anything.

That said, I'd put the CDi games after Adventure of Link, because they could only exist in the bleak future. Also most of the enemies were inspired from the first two games in all three CDi.... things.
