This game blew my socks off when I saw it in the arcade.

2nd impact I thought had the more beautiful stages.

Still one of my top three best SF games.

(SSF2T, SFZ2, SFIII3S)

Great music, great characters. Sure, it may have been a bit imbalanced for LOL PRO STRAT players but I don't give a goddamn fuck.

Also, BEES THE BEES THE BEES IN MY HAIR.

AND THAT FUCKING EVIL GODDAMN BOSS

I used to tell this joke about Capcom not being able to count to three until SF3 ruined mah laughs.

Still a badass game, though.

I don't want to 'blow your mind' here but neither urien nor chun have a particularly high skill cap

The entire game overall is low skill cap, about the only real technical skill is kara throws

Difficult parrying in a tournament situation does not count at all, that shit is nothing compared to actual timing and technique on standard SF games

He's right. SF3 is a good game, but it's quite easy to get good enough to do well in a tourney with Chun, Ken, or Urien.

The timing on combos is pretty loose across the whole game, the inputs are very forgiving, and the game is fairly slow.

The "tricky" parts of 3S are among the easiest to master across the spectrum of fighting games. The real skill in the game is taking advantage of your basic skills like mixups, zoning, pressure, etc.

As someone who actually plays fighting games and isn't complete shit, I'd like to give a big FUCK YOU to all the idiots who keep saying 3S is the best fighting game ever.

All 2 people I ever met in real life who say that don't even know what frame data is and had no interest or knowledge of fighting games except for Evo that they wound up watching through even more clueless "youtube personalities".

I don't even know what else to say, the idiots really speak for themselves on this one.

But yeah, game looks great, memorable stuff, and isn't completely broken as shit on the subatomic level so that's nice. Parrying is shitty though and a lot of the characters are fairly garbage in both gameplay and design.

Fuck idiots like gootecks who cling to it for the cred. I love how he dropped it for all his other garbage marketing crap.
There are crowds of nobodies who cling to it for a little cred in the fighting game community and he is their king.

Wanna throw some fighting games that are better in your eyes out there?

I'm just curious, as I can think of 2 series that are arguably better but I feel like they aren't what you have in mind.

Feel free to differentiate better to play and better to watch if you'd like, as it's a distinction I hold as well.

So basically, a big fuck you to anybody who has an opinion. Real grown up talk here. And I don't even think 3rd strike is the best fighting game ever. Namely because it's all personal preference when it comes down to it. To say otherwise is pretty asinine.

I'm going to use Japanese players as examples because that's where I live, and that's what I know best. But anyway, at goi chariot (my local arcade) I see kaqn play blazblue a lot, but he still gives the capcom players respect. I've played him 3rd before and he's not bad.

Meanwhile daigo HATES 3rd strike, plays 4 the most, but has said that he likes SF2 the most. And people like Nuki like 3rd the best, even though he excels at almost every fighter he's touched (even virtua fighter 4 for a short stint).

At my arcade, most people play arcsys fighters, while in most big arcades it seems like street fighter 4 or tekken gets the most attention.

My point is, the top players play what they play for various reasons. Some for the competition, some because they just like it. But there's no point in trashing another game because you don't like it.

I mean, the game still gets play here in Japan. Gamespot versus and game newton are two arcades where the game still thrives after more than 13 years since its release! It is a very deep, rewarding and fun game. It you cannot understand that, it sucks to be you.

>> No.1139912

its interesting isnt it, this argument

and it quickly becomes polarized, due to bads not knowing that they are bads

truly getting good at street fighter is almost unattainable. 1 in 1000 even has a shot at being a tournament player

so when a game comes along that makes them feel skilled its hard for them to see that it has less depth than fucking skullgirls

and too bad for OP, who just wanted to say that SF3 looked cool

OP, I also preferred second impact. Kens stage in particular was a fun throwback to the old days, and SI also had my favorite gill tune

I used to live in Japan up until last year, and I'd always see players playing 3S. 3S and Guilty Gear were my games of choice and both always had players...

I just love 3S for its roster, it's beautiful hand-drawn animation (truly a marvel back in 1999 when the first SF3 came out) and intricate gameplay. The parry system separates the men from the boys, and it makes for the most interesting matches. SF4 to me is slow and dull (though it has brought in new hotties like Hakan's wife, Viper and Juri) whereas 3S is fast, technical and good.

It's by no means perfect, it is true the tiers affect it quite seriously, but I'm a Q player and I have to say nothing is as satisfying as a parry SA2. To me it remains the best fighting game ever made, though I respectfully understand other's viewpoints.

I think a lot of people were upset that in the first version of the game, Ryu and Ken were the only returning characters. SF2 had its share of freaks like Blanka and Dhalsim and I know people bring them up in arguments when people say SF3 has nothing but weirdos in it, but I think the reason people say that about 3 is because some of them really do look kinda ugly. Blanka is a beast dude who's green, but he still had a sleek look to him in SF2. Guys like Hugo or Oro don't have the most handsome look to them, and that may have been attributed to the more detailed visuals. Despite that the game has plenty of great "normal" designs such as Ibuki, Dudly, Makoto (Capcom managed to make a karate character who wasn't a shoto), and Elena. I personally like the designs to all of the characters and think they really set the mood and feel for the game.

Twelve is pretty lame, though.

So in other words, it's a rich, polished game whose metagame and strategic play is easily accessible to players, who don't have to learn convoluted shit to play at tournament level.
