$5 each for a N64 and DC controller. Normally I wouldn't have, but the purchase was fueled partially by a shop's recent closure (omg, where will I now get my games?...which I buy but never play...) and because the N64 had a memory card in it, the DC a VMU and rumble pack.

Also GB Tetris for $1.50.

Got a complete copy of MediEvil last week in fairly good condition for $15. Not a bad deal, but I suppose still not quite as good as finding the second game in nearly mint condition for $12. Either way that pair of games are hard to find where I live. Going to give them a playthrough as it gets closer to Halloween.

Was only 50 cents. There's this tine little "resale shop" next to this church that I've started hitting and it almost always has something sweet for me. Then the actual video game store were I bought those sharp 5200 games had a Spellcaster on the shelf and I thought it was $9.99 then I looked coser and it was $29.99 ough! They had a boxed MVS Metal Slug for $70 and some OG boxed CDi games that were also a bit too rich for my blood.

Made a trip from Illinois to Ohio, and stopped at a few shops in Indianapolis and a handful in Columbus, OH. Got some okay deals I think. All of the Genesis games are CIB (with the exception of Rings of Power which is missing the manual) and I nabbed them for between $4.00 (Populous) and $35.00 (Zombies at my Neighbors). Nabbed Sol Feace for $2.00, which includes the manual, and the minty Elemental Gimmick Gear for $12.00, both of which I thought were pretty good deals.

$20 for the Gunstar Heroes cart. It's pretty banged up, but it works. Took a chance on RayStorm for $25.00. Not really sure how well I did on that one. And even though I know I was getting fucked in the ass, I paid $40.00 for the boxed Goldeneye. 100% complete though.

It was seriously amazing. Huge selection of import games for every console you can think of, GREAT prices, and the guy who I think was the owner was legitimately one of the nicest guys I have ever met in my life. I picked up the new WonderSwan for $60.00, and he threw the game in for free. We talked about gaming and collecting for a while, and you could tell he was really, really passionate and knowledgeable about it. He said that I could save 10% if I signed up for a frequent buyer card, and when I told him that I was just visiting the area, he gave it to me anyway.

If you are ever driving through the area, it is worth a stop. One of the best buying experiences I've ever had from any retail establishment. People like him need to be supported.

I got most of pic related from there. The CIB Banjo Kazooie was $20.00 (seriously), and all of the CIB Genesis games were no more than $20.00.

Got the 3DO games and the Ogre Battle cart from a different shop. $30.00 for it. Former rental. Iffy on that one.

I didn't take advantage at all. He was straight up about what he wanted to pay. Honestly, I thought this guy was joking so I just said yes to him without really thinking he'd show up. But he came like he said, paid upfront, and left seemingly happy. Guy looked around his 20s too, so I doubt he was totally oblivious to actual value of it. Maybe he didn't want to order one online and wait for it to arrive or travel out of town to the nearest retro store, I don't know. That's the place where I was just about to pull the trigger on Digital Devil Saga brand new and Shadow hearts until they clarified that the BOGO sale didn't include new games.

So day one of my collecting adventure was today and it didn't go so well.

What i found.

None of these stores had any decent loose games and all of their boxed games were old Fifa/sports/racing games.

So i never ended up buying ANY of those consoles. But what i DID come home with was a copy of MGS2:The sons of liberty in a metal tin (Not like a steel book tin, the actual plastic game case comes inside another slightly bigger MGS2 tin) for £1.20
And a copy of Metroid II on the GB for 45p.

Was i mad for passing up any of those consoles? I think i made a pretty good call.

It's the Model 1 Sega CD that's worth so much not the Mega Drive. The Model 1 Mega Drive/Genesis looks a little better sitting on top the Sega CD because they have the same footprint and were made to match each other. A model 2 console on top of a model 1 Sega CD looks noticeably mismatched (pic related) but doesn't knock much off the value since a model 1 and a model 1 MD/Genesis are worth close to the same amount. Well, I went to about 16 charity shops, and this was the only retro thing I got.

It was inside a copy of Metal Gear Solid, the case broke in my hand, and all there was in the case was this, and Disc 2 of MGS.

I asked the woman if I could just buy the game, and she said yeah. I got it for £1 without anything else.

Buddy had it marked down to $38 since his boss apparently only checked the average value, which included the cheaper Japanese version. Also the label is shit, but I don't care. Gave me some wicked discounts, plus some good value on my doubles and junk I was trading him. Found something interesting at my local goodwill. Apparently, my local primary school had donated a bunch of old educational equipment. This included about 10 PSOnes with carrying cases and sets of Lightspan Adventures educational software (which is supposedly in the rare, but nearly worthless territory).

Not in rural towns they aren't.

PIcked this up for $3 yesterday. Didn't come with any cables and I don't even know if it works. I've never owned a Saturn, I don't even have any Saturn games.

The power cable for the Saturn if very common, it's one of those double barrel ended ones. The one that is used in the PS1, Xbox and Dreamcast, so you should have that.

As for the rest, I doubt you'd have spare Saturn cables hanging around. It should cost you about $5 more to get a controller and cable.
