Can we have a pickup thread? I got this bad boy for 30 bucks today.

>> No.1118126

$5 each for a N64 and DC controller. Normally I wouldn't have, but the purchase was fueled partially by a shop's recent closure (omg, where will I now get my games?...which I buy but never play...) and because the N64 had a memory card in it, the DC a VMU and rumble pack.

Also GB Tetris for $1.50.

Got a complete copy of MediEvil last week in fairly good condition for $15. Not a bad deal, but I suppose still not quite as good as finding the second game in nearly mint condition for $12. Quick question.

There are 4 EA sports games for the Mega Drive I could buy for £1 each. Should I get them?

2 of them are exactly the same, some shitty golf game and I think the other two are Madden, and Fifa.

Made a trip from Illinois to Ohio, and stopped at a few shops in Indianapolis and a handful in Columbus, OH. Got some okay deals I think. All of the Genesis games are CIB (with the exception of Rings of Power which is missing the manual) and I nabbed them for between $4.00 (Populous) and $35.00 (Zombies at my Neighbors). Nabbed Sol Feace for $2.00, which includes the manual, and the minty Elemental Gimmick Gear for $12.00, both of which I thought were pretty good deals.

$20 for the Gunstar Heroes cart. It's pretty banged up, but it works. Took a chance on RayStorm for $25.00. Not really sure how well I did on that one. And even though I know I was getting fucked in the ass, I paid $40.00 for the boxed Goldeneye. 100% complete though.

Stopped at this AWESOME shop in Columbus.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/warp-zone-video-games-and-beyond-hilliard#query:video%20games

It was seriously amazing. Huge selection of import games for every console you can think of, GREAT prices, and the guy who I think was the owner was legitimately one of the nicest guys I have ever met in my life. I picked up the new WonderSwan for $60.00, and he threw the game in for free. We talked about gaming and collecting for a while, and you could tell he was really, really passionate and knowledgeable about it. He said that I could save 10% if I signed up for a frequent buyer card, and when I told him that I was just visiting the area, he gave it to me anyway.

If you are ever driving through the area, it is worth a stop. One of the best buying experiences I've ever had from any retail establishment. People like him need to be supported.

I got most of pic related from there. The CIB Banjo Kazooie was $20.00 (seriously), and all of the CIB Genesis games were no more than $20.00.

Got the 3DO games and the Ogre Battle cart from a different shop. $30.00 for it. Former rental. Iffy on that one.

I didn't take advantage at all. He was straight up about what he wanted to pay. Honestly, I thought this guy was joking so I just said yes to him without really thinking he'd show up. But he came like he said, paid upfront, and left seemingly happy. Guy looked around his 20s too, so I doubt he was totally oblivious to actual value of it. Maybe he didn't want to order one online and wait for it to arrive or travel out of town to the nearest retro store, I don't know. All I do know is that he made an outrageously generous offer and I accepted. If that makes me a reseller scum, than so be it. I'm enjoying the games I got for free and that is all that matters.

That's the place where I was just about to pull the trigger on Digital Devil Saga brand new and Shadow hearts until they clarified that the BOGO sale didn't include new games.

I had a nice Sony front loading betamax VCR in the car that they wanted to take in trade but the manager on duty couldn't give me a trade in value and asked me to come back at some certain time the owner or whoever would be there.

I didn't. Still got some good deals on cables and shit though. Had a big tub of 360 power bricks for $9 each.

Visited some relatives today who asked me to take some old games off of their hands. I recognize most of the NES titles, but most of the PC games I've never played or heard of.

Sorry for the image quality, I've got an old camera.

NES:
Codename: Viper
Shadowgate
Deadly Towers
Legacy of the Wizard
CV2: Simon's Quest
CV3: Dracula's Curse
Adventure Island
Nightshade
The Simpsons: Bart vs. The World
Abadox
Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link
The Gaurdian Legend
AD&D Heroes of the Lance
Hydlide

PC:
Darkstone
Tex Murphy: Overseer
Dark Side of the Moon
Myst
Riven
John Saul's Blackstone Chronicles
Soldier of Fortune
Ultimate Might and Magic Archives (contains M&M 1-5)
Cutthroats: Terror on the High Seas
Temujin
Reah
The Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time
Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny
Lands of Lore 3
Sanitarium
Traitor's Gate
Of Light and Darkness: The Prophecy
Grim Fandango

So, PCfags, can I even run these games on modern systems without workarounds like dosbox or OS emulation?

Filling out your consoles is a fantastic feeling when you're getting a collection started but trust me, those 60 titles as a group never were and never will be "junk" That's not what 60 games bought for $40 looks like. Sega MegaDrive II + Sega CD, All cables (No box), One controller, No games. £50

>Store Three
Nes, Snes, N64, MegaDrive I/II, Master System, PS1/2, OXB, GC. All cables (No boxes), One controller each, No games. £40 Each.

None of these stores had any decent loose games and all of their boxed games were old Fifa/sports/racing games.

So i never ended up buying ANY of those consoles. But what i DID come home with was a copy of MGS2:The sons of liberty in a metal tin (Not like a steel book tin, the actual plastic game case comes inside another slightly bigger MGS2 tin) for £1.20
And a copy of Metroid II on the GB for 45p.

Was i mad for passing up any of those consoles? I think i made a pretty good call.

It's the Model 1 Sega CD that's worth so much not the Mega Drive. The Model 1 Mega Drive/Genesis looks a little better sitting on top the Sega CD because they have the same footprint and were made to match each other. A model 2 console on top of a model 1 Sega CD looks noticeably mismatched (pic related) but doesn't knock much off the value since a model 1 and a model 1 MD/Genesis are worth close to the same amount. It shouldn't take you long to scare up a model 1 anyway since you don't need any of the wires or any controllers.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I can't believe no one else cleared that up for you.

I asked the woman if I could just buy the game, and she said yeah. I got it for £1 without anything else.

I really can't get a sense for what saturn consoles are actually worth. I only ever see them at specialty retro game stores (where everything is overpriced) for like 90 dollars, but then I keep hearing stories on here of people finding bundles with consoles in them for like 30 dollars.
That, and an inability to list 10 games for the console that I really want to play has kept me away

Well D is good but only semi-rare and the rest is pretty common although Sonic 3D is pretty good too. Just check eBay sold auctions to discover what fair prices are. I was going to do it for you but it looks like the lot is already sold. All tolled it wasn't worth more than $100.

You Canadabros should find me an Amiga CD32 I've been wanting one and they're impossible to find. I'll be happy to trade. For example I have four Saturns and I would chip one of them and send it to you in trade for a CD32, which I guess are much more common up there.

PIcked this up for $3 yesterday. Didn't come with any cables and I don't even know if it works. I've never owned a Saturn, I don't even have any Saturn games.

The power cable for the Saturn if very common, it's one of those double barrel ended ones. The one that is used in the PS1, Xbox and Dreamcast, so you should have that.

As for the rest, I doubt you'd have spare Saturn cables hanging around. It should cost you about $5 more to get a controller and cable.
