Fucking ARM machines. Why does it have to be such a goddamn headache finding one for playing roms and shit?

Who in their right minds decided to pair up 5 fucking cartridge slots with a fucking cell phone chip, a cheap one? That's all it fucking is, a shitty phone core in a big box. Or sometimes they don't include the box. All it fucking needs is ports, a decent selection, but there's always so much wrong with it! No VGA. Composite only, not even S-video. No fucking sound(headphone) port! Idiotically fucking tiny MICRO sd! Even extremely basic shit like a few USB ports.

They could have stuck in a 2ghz chip, for everything that could run. Which is the whole fucking point, the device out of the box is nothing at all remarkable, it's just a challenge for some people, who will bang their heads at it just to see what they could you make run on an oddly limited machine.

I went to a lecture about some arm boards. For some reason, they all ended up standing around for half an hour at the end, what the fuck? There wasn't even any discussion about the cubieboard. Then the damn pub had free popcorn, and everyone else was preoccupied about food.

I have the retron 3 and I personally don't see the problem. If I bought every console it would cost me ~100 dollars. I personally don't like to use emulators since playing it on the PC isn't the same; I love owning physical cartridges.
I've had no problems with the Retron series besides some sound quality and the cartridges getting stuck in the toploader.

>>1109441
Its currently not out yet but on there website and YT account it runs fine since they upload game footage with it.
Its basically an emulator with an interface, savestates, overclocking and button customization, not much.
I have to admit though these 'god controllers' they give out is shit and overprices the console.
Its a terrible wireless plastic controller that feels like I'm playing with a TV remote.
Sure, its just an emulator as a console but for me, I find it more enjoyable to play it on a console so I can use physical games and Invite friends .

I have a small place. If this works at all, I'm there. The price is right, and it is HDMI. No fucking around with switch boxes, or mods.

It would go nicely (as it is small) with my 2600, 5200 w/2600, Coleco with 2600, and Intellivision with 2600. Hmmm seems like this was thought of before...

Real cool examples of worthless garbage, Bro.

Let me lay it out for you guys. First, buy a JXD brand tablet. Spend as much as you want on it for the features you want, they have tons of models. Get one that outputs the signals you want, assuming you want to use it as a TV player at all as opposed to just a portable one.

Next, get on the this for when this dude Sparrow produces more of his Wii Retropad Adapters. It's a damn brilliant little device into which you can plug practically any real retro controller and it will work as a Wii Classic controller and since there are Bluetooth drivers for the Wiimote on both Android and PC it will control everything you could possibly want using everything you could possibly want.

There. You're welcome.

If you want the SP design then this JXD might be the right choice for you.

but

ALWAYS DO LOTS OF RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING A HK DEVICE

It's not that they try to mislead anybody, they just try to keep prices as low as possible and the language barrier can keep the performance from being clear. Many of their devices have plain Gingerbread and ICS mods available on openhandhelds.net and you can see their performance on Youtube.

The whole idea of a retro system using a new architecture like ARM is really obtuse. I'm not saying it should use motorola 680x0 as if it'll make the main use of it function more naturally, but there already are x86 SoC's out there, so that's another platform a retro system could hit, perhaps even perfectly, since it's not even a forbidden full-proprietary platform. Even companies that might have patents and copyrighted code relevant to making old games run well, like creative labs, don't have nearly the same claim to the platforms like nintendo.
