I'm trying to decide between the Odin 2 and the RP4P. I have a Pocket 2S already and it's great for GBA (getting close to finishing Metroid Fusion and FE Sacred Stones), but it doesn't run GC and PS2 very well, so I feel like I'm missing out a bit.

If I get the RP4P, I'd probably sell my 2S, but if I get the Odin 2, I'd probably keep the 2S since it's actually pocketable.

I'm not a broke boi, so I can technically afford the Odin 2, so the major question is whether it's worth the bump in size for better performance/ergonomics/better screen.

Does anyone have both of these and have an opinion on what's the better overall pick? I don't travel too much, but it's nice to be able to pocket a device when I do. But the Odin 2 has so much performance overhead available that if android emulation doesn't die a horrible death, I feel like it'll be able to pull off some pretty cool stuff (Winlator and future Yuzu/Suyu stuff once nintendo cools off)

When did this happen? Carts didnt get expensive until very recently. You could have bought an upgraded backlit SP or GBA i. The last 5 years for 60$. You could have gotten all but the most desirable carts for 10$ or less each online. What is the obsession with purchasing / homebrewing the perfect handheld? Is simply jailbreaking a dsxl with a large sd card not enough? There is nothing authentic about a handheld GC or PS2 emulator. You can't make this in some rice paddy in Vietnam with child labor, you need a super sophisticated cutting edge microchip manufacturing facility to make one that will even be recognized by a computer. The steam deck is NOT the obvious choice when you go over 300$.
Don't know about US prices but the shittiest version is still a little under 400$ here, and I heard it's way overpriced in lots of countries.
That leaves a $100+ gap without recommendations. Maybe I want something that's precisely 300$, maybe I'm willing to pay even 800$. There are many different requirements and user cases and pretending everything over 300$ is "steam deck or nothing" is retarded.

Then there's the fact it's outdated at this point, even the OLED model has limitations and debatable hardware choices that will 100% fixed in the next release, which is expected in a year or something. It's not cutting edge anymore, a 2 years old device can't be suggested as the "default choice" when you go over 300$ as the market is rapidly getting filled with alternatives.

Are these worth it? They claim to have Linux and open source software on them. The form factor is pretty cool. If anyone has one could you tell me how it actually works? the reason there's a tax on checkout for aliexpress (and amazon, and other stores) is because the stores register with the brazilian government to collect taxes at checkout
if you buy from a store that doesn't have taxes at checkout your purchase gets held up by the customs service and they demand you pay up to receive your package (and the taxes are even higher if you do that)
