The first time I played Final Fantasy in an emulator, I thought the knife was a hand. I must have realized pretty quickly that it was actually a knife though, because I don't remember it ever being a mindblowing realization.

I always sorta saw the original SMB goombas as having an underbite. I knew it was their mushroom stem but it sorta looked like a bulldog's lower lip frownily poking up over flappy cheeks.
