Aw yiss. Just bought a 27" Trinitron Wega with the bass speakers for 50$. It came with a 5 disk DVD too but that's less interesting. Of course the guy had it in his addic passing through the narrowest stairs full of framed pictures, twisting stairs and art things probably worth 1000$ each.
But yay to me. Now, I just need to redo my whole set up for it.

Did you get lucky recently ?

27'' inch is the optimal crt size, and American 2000s Trinitrons are highly based. Nice to have the subwoofer with it as well.

2000s Euro Trinitron output was all 4:3 21'' lt chassis mono shitters, the gay nigger ls chassis that explodes, and shitty 100hz widescreen sets that cant even do progressive scan

The actual lack of good 2000s Trinitrons here means that 4:3 curved L04 Phillips are the best 2000s sets you can get here.

That's because flatscreen crts aren't actually flat. They're curved internally. Like imagine a normal curved set and then filling in the front of it with glass to make it flat, that's what they did lmao. Makes it very heavy.

Only exception is some LG Flatron monitors and some weird Panasonic sets who managed to get the ''real flat'' patent off Zenith.

I wish I could get one of those lucky CRT finds but at the same time I don't have room for one in my living area and I'm still somewhat young so I can easily hear the high pitched sound they emit.
I recently upgraded from the LCD I've had since 2012 to a Sony OLED which I'm soon to setup and I just bought a component > HDMI converter thing for my PS2 which I expect will look like crap but hopefully no worse than component did on my 1080p LCD.
For modern TVs retro games require a scaler to look half decent and some recommend the RT 2X-Pro as a more affordable scaler but it's not fucking cheap by any means, especially in my country and it feels like a bummer buying one of those for a high end TV when something like the RT-4K exists.
I just hope I won't have to wait too many years for the more high end scalers to become more affordable and available. You CRT fags still win for now... *sigh*

Allegedly people say it dies after like two weeks if you don't use your Godcast, but I have no idea why and how true that is. PSU mod I got out of apranoia because apparently removing the disc drive to install the GDEMU does some voltage shit and the regular PSU does something else and it's not that great. I forgot. Tried actively researching it to actually learn what the deal was, but everyone was saying different shit and I gave up. There's gonna be an 8bitmods VMU? Never heard about it, but I preordered a VM2 from Dreammods, and the next batch should be sent out in June. It was a kickstarter thing that ended a while ago but I emailed him and he's sending me one. 150 bucks though. Not sure how the 8bitmods one would compare. It's not, I specifically researched the model numbers and only bid on auctions that very clearly showed the number on the sticker and weren't piss yellow. Mine is the 670-14071E model. Put a dragoncity dc-psu in it and a knock off GDEMU (with openmenu), because the genuine ones aren't sold anymore. Works well for now. Really hoping these two mods are legit. I had a similar funny story getting my 27" trinitron. I forget the model but it's a curved glass display as per my preference. Got it for $30.

So the guy had it in his basement. Narrow uneven stairs were leading down to a dimly lit basement. The guy walked in ahead of me. I was seriously concerned that he was going to knock me out with a sock full of quarters and murder me. It turned out my fears were unwarranted.
I smashed my hand agaisnt the door sill moving toward the stairs out of his basement but there was no way in hell that I was going to drop the 70+ lb 27" trinitron.
He (the seller) was just normal nice person. I'm always a little bit afraid that I'm gonna get murdered on a fb marketplace deal but, when I meet the person theyre always super nice. I also met a really nice persons when I bought my original xbox and various other CRTs.
The most expensive crt I ever bought was an olympus oev 143 pvm for $380. The guy was a former video work professional who owned several PVMs. Nice guy again but my pvm suffered a vertical collaspe shortly after buying it. I'm currently sorting out the repairs for it.

Cleaning up retro game stuff is all part of the process. I've bought game consoles that straight up had the controllers not working when I tried to use them. For me they've always just needed disassembly and cleaning to restore them to working condition. Use a spray like this amon all the controller ports, inside pcb of the controller. It'll be good as new aside from its original wear.. n64 controllers need the whole analog stick assembly replaced though. Replacements for those are on ali express.

Not true, it suffers the same double-image problem.
Also true, 7th gen is best on 60Hz 1080p Plasma.

There's many WEGAs that don't have 100Hz or have it optional and can do native 240p without any scaling. I still prefer older Trinitrons though.

Tvs like this (late 90s/2000s) are special and lasted only a flash before plasma, which are the same way. It's funny how I knew I was looking at something special when I was there in the 00s, now I know I'm looking at crap. Tv tech is real era defining. You remember the cozy plasma heat and multicolored pixels of crt/plasma up close. Todays tvs are horseshit and make everything look like dogshit. So the screen size on that around the size of a 55" 16:9 TV in 4:3 mode but in 1989?

It was also prohibitively expensive and prohibitively heavy.

my b&o was $120 without stand, came with remote but the little screen on it doesn’t work. I happen to live in probably the best place to get a b&o, and they’re still not overly common. $300 seems a little steep for an old mx3500, but they are rare so I could understand, especially if the condition is great.

pic is mx8000

anything above 13 inch is too big, and people put fucking 13 inches at absurd prices, it pisses me off.

I saw a 34'' in marketplace for about the same money, but it's pretty far away from my place. Literally would spend more bringing that mastodon home than buying it. Does it worth? Be honest please.
