How do I even begin to explore this abomination?
Are there emulators?

You're doing yourself a disservice by not playing it the way it was meant to be played: using real hardware while getting motion sickness. Try to keep cushions nearby for when you get a seizure.

3DS is the definitive way to play Virtual Boy. The emulator even got updated to run at 50Hz like the original console so no more frame pacing issues.

No. But the eye bleed is real. Whatever dumbass decided RED was the color to go for was a fucking moron. If they did cyan/blue you'd be able to transition from dark/light without your eyes destroying themselves and the virtualboy would have potentially been marginally better off.

Had one of these and loved the graphics. The real issue besides not being portable was that there was only one decent game for it which is the Wario one.

Bound High was really good too, and Jack Bros was arguably better than Wario.

Bound High was never officially released, unfortunately.

But yeah the pop-up book visual effect of the 3DS is cool and needs to be experi need IRL. The Wario game uses it best IMO

The screen uses LEDs and blue LEDs were way too expensive.

Blue LEDs at that stage were still an exquisite rarity. It took a long time until finally materials for the blue wavelength were found. Hence they were much too expensive.

>>10968546
Ackshually it just uses a stripe of LEDs per eye and a combination of timing and flipflioping mirrors to achieve the effect.

Mednafen with Anaglyph 3d glasses is a satisfactory way to play the games.

If only there was some sort of emulation wiki where you could find this information.

Have you seen modern VR controllers? The VB pad is the 90s interpretation of the same idea. It was thinking too far ahead for what it could afford to be at the time but the pieces were all there. Give Teleroboxer a try. It's a legitimately good game.

There's a port on the main unit designed for a link cable. The idea was that you could link VBs together the same way you would Game Boys for multiplayer. But since it flopped no games ever made use of the feature and the link cable never came out.

Not really. The VB was released as a stopgap to cover for the unexpected N64 delay. They knew the VB had issues but they needed something on the market. Then shortly after, while the Game Boy was floundering, it got a shot in the arm thanks to Pokemon.
