Me and my wife just keep our games in an old wooden cutlery box, but neither of us keep old stuff so at this point it's mostly just a pile of gba, ds and 3ds carts. Same with dvds and vhs tapes. We prefer to decorate with plants and art and the like.

Here.

I'm not even posting it to be provocative, I don't really have a set up, sold every old cartridge and CD, and now I stick to emulation only... my setup, if I can even call it that, is my TV, that I'd plug my laptop into through HDMI, and play with either a Sony DualShock 4, or an 8BitDo M30, depending on what ROM I'll go for. I'd like to have a proper space for my hobby in the future... just not now.

I'd say my GF is fine with the few things I still do own, and she's supportive for the most part, I'm going to ask her to marry me in August, then I'll finally be able to talk about my 'wife' like you all.

Disk image mounting up to 8 drives iirc, XEX execution, Cartridge emulation, you can telnet into your modern PC or BBS with it, and it also works completely offline with a plain SD card. If you want a simple flashcart to get going, get an A8PicoCart from some DIYer online, they're open source, dirt cheap, and work flawlessly.

Basically same. Except I didn't sell all my stuff - they're in a large box, all the consoles and games and shit just tossed in there. Manuals in my walk in library though.
Laptop and PC and secondary monitor and eventually I plan on a large TV as well.
I won't have a proper space for retro setups in the future really, or least I have little intention of doing so - I could possible slap the hardware on the TV when I get it, but I don't care. I'll just have mostly a PC and 3-4 displays.

If anything I've thought of extending it to a handful of cheap laptops into some sort of portable LAN setup I can bring retro and older PC games to play. Pull up with 4 laptops and connecting gear and bam, we're playing some UT99, Quake, Doom, DOS games, or console games etc...

No GF or wife - and my friends are either mostly away or dealing with kids so it's not really even worth it for me right now. Maybe when their kids get older and they have more free time and the kids can play too.

>does this shit just scream "over the top"
It doesn't. It screams... They're also a DIYer and like decorating and building shit as a side hobby as well - and they've integrated that into their other hobbies - giving them something to do, in this game it's building aesthetic show cases for what they do have. If you want to see screaming over the top - go check out the guys with wall to wall gaming who've collected every cart for one or more systems all glassed up and shit like that. At the very least - people like that are useful for gathering rare copies of games that might get ripped. Worse is those people with the sealed shit. That's not even a gaming setup - that shit is a collectors disease.

Oh, I certainly will! I still have to marry her first, I'll probably do it by the end of next year, then a couple of years to enjoy ourselves, and then we can start having kids, hopefully a boy and a girl.

I'm lucky she likes video games too, had a few of SEGA's and Nintendo's consoles growing up, we finished off Super Bomberman, Bubble Bobble and a few other classics together in the last few months, I hope we can play with our kids too as the years go by, I've always liked to play sports video games with my dad growing up, still do in fact, I hope my son and I do it too in the future.

I'll admit, life, being an adult, is tough and scary, the responsibility... but I'm so lucky, and I'm glad.

>>10961391
You did well, I imagine this bubble's not popping any time soon, so having all of your stuff still is a gold mine, also good for keeping cherished stuff you're fond of. A TV is definitely a must for me, I think it'll be a good investment on your behalf. I like the LAN setup idea too... sounds SOVLFUL... hopefully your friends can find the time, maybe you'll get a GF... it came out of nowhere for me.
