MM+ is a better device overall but the OG 35XX has much better hardware and an actual gpu.

The thing that was frustrating is that they actually were onto something with the Ayaneo Air line of products, even the Ayaneo Next was a step up over their first device. But I guess they got rid of that designer a long time ago.

Seriously though, it feels like they're trying to be the apple of handhelds. There's no other explanation for putting a G3x in an AI designed handheld.

I actually think that's it. They got tons of praise early on for how nice and sleek their handhelds were when compared to the competition, but for some reason Arthur Zhang (their CEO) cannot bring himself into making a low cost handheld, even when it would make perfect sense to do so. The OLED screen is nice but there's zero reason why a vertical needs a powerful CPU like that, or why it needs a touch pad next to a thumbstick that sticks out. Its starting to cross the line from at least kind of classy and "premium" like the Pocket S, to just tacky.

I've reset my Samsung Galaxy M30 to its factory settings to use it as a secondary smartphone for a while when I needed it... but now I'm no longer in need of it, so it's back to being only for ROMs. I've managed to set it back up quite quickly still... made some changes also, the controller's still as it was before though, a Mocute 060 which, for a cheap controller, has been doing wonderful too.

P.S. One more thing I did recently to this setup, which I do recommend for everyone else who's daily driving something similar... is to get a case for the smartphone, in this case it still fit since both the smartphone and case are thin, but the added grip I got between the smartphone and the controller is very much appreciated! It just feels more stable and cohese... a single device.

OP, should I get an Anbernic RG Arc-D or a Retroid Pocket 2S?

Pretty much hate my current Anbernic RG353P because of no downward firing speaker.

Love the Arc's Genesis controller vibes. However it would be kind of fun playing Wayne Gretzky 3D Hockey 98 on N64 and other casual shit occasionally on the Retroid Pocket 2S.

Triggers mean a lot to me, same with forward firing speakers. And no, I don't want a Nintendo Switch sized one since I already have a Steam Deck for GameCube and beyond.

I didn't mention this in the post I was complaining about battery life because I thought it'd be funnier to omit, but I was also using Nuked audio (shockingly demanding setting), liberal use of fast forward, 90% brightness, and fairly loud volume. The battery life is always bad on rk3566 imo, but I made it sound worse than it really is.

That's why I like customs pre-clearance & tax/VAT collection at point of sale.
Sure you pay tax every time but also avoid import fees and literal weeks at a time waiting for some nerd to rubber stamp, sort a parcel and then fuck you around. It's better than rolling the dice on whether you'll get charged or not or dealing with clearance/handling fees too.
