tiger thread?

That was a surprisingly fun game when you got used to it.

These pieces of shit were too complicated for their own good. If they kept them simple they could have been really fun like Game & Watch.

I've rambled about this before, but I think it's more a symptom of the era than anything.

In the beginning when they were trying to emulate single-screen Donkey Kong-style games on lcd handhelds it was passable enough. But by the time time Tiger came along, kids wanted versions of side-scrollers and fighters which were a lot tougher to approximate.

Tiger's Sonic Spinball was arguably more fun than the original, or at least less frustrating.

Man, the shit I used to buy when I was a kid.

This thing is awfully pink and girly-looking, what was I even thinking? I coulda bought something like Sonic or Street Fighter, but no.

i know that feeling. its a horrible feeling. having old parents sucks cause they never knew jack about modern technology. "he just wants the gameboy cause his friends want it, lets buy him a few of these tiger things...its all the same and its cheaper!. i saw this video game thingy daget on tv that says it has over a thousand games, and its only 20 bucks!"

but this was all ok, when the fateful birthday came that i got a gameboy color along with pokemon blue and super mario bros.

>> No.1093732

Anyone know how long they made these things for? I remember seeing a Chicken Run one once and that must have been the early 2000's. Hell they could still be going for all I know

I actually specifically asked for some of those things.

And speaking of Tiger, I actually asked for a game.com after I got a Gameboy Color, thinking the game.com was going to blow it out of the water.

That was a pretty big mistake. I forced myself to play that piece of shit so my parents wouldn't think they wasted their money.

It's kinda funny how they tried to market this as a game for girls, but the game's premise is very traditionally "male": You play as a guy with a sword who has to beat up the other sword guy to win your girlfriend back.

And it's PANK

I actually owned the R-Zone back in the day. It was awful. It gave me headaches and the R-Zone game I owned was terrible. It was some weird racing game. The only other Tiger game I owned was Space Jam.

The Tiger games really were the bottom-of-the-barrel video games. If anything, they showed how deceptive marketing can be.

anyone have this one? I found it one day in a store all by itself and bought it for my uncle but I have never seen another again besides a few times on ebay.

>> No.1094414

...anyone ever beaten a Tiger game?

I had Double Dragon as a kid, and I loved it. Played it all the time. It was incredibly repetitive but I didn't care. Basically a guy would appear on the screen and you would have to hit "punch" or "kick" (it didn't really matter which) really fast to hit him a few times and kill him before he hit you, and you could jump or move back a space to avoid his punches or kicks. So after maybe 20 of these guys you'd go to the next level. Anyway, you would think that such a simple and stupid game wouldn't be that hard, but inevitably after fighting almost a hundred guys you're going to get hit enough times to die, no matter how hard you try to avoid their hits, and you only got one life. So I never beat it, but I'm sure I got pretty close. I'm not sure if I did though that there would be room on the lcd for anything other than "Game Over" as an ending.

Yeah, demonstratively playing it in front of your parents so they can see and feel happy that their kid likes what they got them.... We all did that.
Though I must say even if it wasn't what I really wanted I always appreciated what they got me. I even would have played with a game.com as good as possible, after all they would have bought it for me...

I own a game.com and this piece of shit. Never released in Europe, I actually imported them out of curiosity.

Don't even. don't even do it for curiosity sake. Worst gaming experience ever, and I've seen some shit... i've seen some shit...

RE2 on game.com is actually not as bad playing on emulator than on real hardware, and it's still shit. (because, yes, a game.com emulator with all the games got released a couple of years back. nobody knows about it because nobody cares)

Looking at screen shots. I figure because it's a puzzle game, just with HK imagery applied.

I wager if there was Justin Bieber's Mean Bean Machine. You'd grudgingly admit to enjoying the game.

>> No.1097520

That depends. If it's just Beebs imagery on top of a tight puzzle game, it wouldn't even be grudging. If I have to listen to one second of his voice or "music"? Hell no.

The best one I ever had some "VR" game that you wore like a Virtual Boy where you had to fight the ninjas that were coming towards you with three or four motion detectors, one in each hand and at least one for kicking.
The batteries went in the central part that clipped on your belt.

The game is actually a handheld sex simulator with the player taking the role of Patty Mayonnaise -- thus the two "action" buttons are, in fact, dialogue options of "Doug" and "Faster" which can be pressed simultaneously for increased effect.
