Even though S added neat characters and ST apparently has the most beloved mechanics of the SFII series, I definitely think the presentation took a big hit. Overly bright backgrounds, bad sound (poor Guile sounds like he was castrated), strange character portraits, ugly UI elements. At least the newcomer sprites are fine.
