They crash landed on an alien planet, they'd need to know how to fix a spaceship to "leave this place" and even among cyborgs that's most likely not common knowledge (let alone having the parts needed to do so).

Fucking Splatterhouse, you don't save the girl, you have to kill her because she's turning into a demon(Evil Dead style) and throughout the fight she says "Help me" and all you can do is put her down so she won't become a monster, for an added bonus the demonic mask that brought you back to life is evil.

The "good ending" in Powerslave is such mindless powerfantasy garbage that the "bad ending" is actually a million times better
It drives home the futility of resisting an advanced alien invasion but the main character gets an ultimately satisfying outcome at the end of the day
Also it's a much better fit for the game's somber end credits theme

it was done by the same team who did Ecco iirc, and it would've been a hidden gem if it came out in 1991. But it came out in 1993, and it was just extremely poor by that time. The gameplay is a bit clunky because of all the moves you can do, and you don't have to do any of the tricky moves, you can just tear bots in half to instantly kill them. The different bodies you can use all function mostly the same and none of them give you any tactical advantage, and the same holds true for all the enemies too.

I loved that game as kid as I was a sucker for scrolling fighters, but Cyborg Justice is clunky, repetitive, and boring. At best it's a 6/10, because it's still not BAD, it's just that once you played the first level, you've seen everything.

10893080

Aspic - The Curse of the Snakelord is a pretty generic A-RPG, originally on computers from 86. However, its end game (and ultimately ending) pulls a surprising "No. You are the demons!" twist.

The game starts as your usual warrior must save the princess from demon lord. When you start the game and get to the castle you meet several guards who just say "Hello!" just comes off as a bit weird. Eventually at the end of the game you defeat the Snakelord and bring back the princess, but the king throws you out of the castle. The game is not over. Attempting to re-enter the castle and the "hello" guards will now spawn endessly and kick your ass. On top of that your party members are gone and nobody wants to join your team anymore... Except, if you go back to the demon realm and recruit skeletons, which were previously enemies. Bring the skeletons to fight for you in the king's castle, eventually kick the king's ass, kidnap the princess... and now cue ending, turns out the Snakelord had cursed you with his dying breath and you are now the Snakelord.

Dungeon Explorer for the Sega CD has 3 bad endings. When you beat the game, the Goddess that you're trying to rescue calls you an idiot and says she didn't need your help at all. Then she offers to grant you one of 3 wishes.
If you choose "eternal life" she turns you into infinite copies of yourself and you become an enemy spawning out of the monster generators in the dungeon. If you choose "true freedom" she just murders you. And if you choose to receive "the jewel of the gods" she sends you to a giant jewel-sized planet with no way to sustain life on it.

The arcade ending is by far one of the saddest /vr/ endings, despite being one of the shortest.
Unlike the NES ending...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSuVH4YgIx0

Marian is still quite dead in the arcade version. While her death is avenged and the Dragons have confronted their vengeful dark sides (presumably), there's nothing left of her except memories of happier days.
