Arrows do suck, but the boomerang is great for spacing and bombs are awesome at area control. You just don't know how to wield them properly. Of course, the tippity top characters can usually shut him down regardless, but that goes for almost the entire cast.

I honestly think if he were just a little bit faster, he'd be solidly high tier. Some of his moves are just too laggy and get punished really hard if you miss with them.

While I didn't play Link in Melee there are a lot of superficial aspects of his design I did like.

I like how weirdly heavy he felt. I like how his attacks felt like they carry quite a punch. There's something about his spin attack, both on ground and in the air, that's so aesthetically pleasing and feels good to land.
