Dirty Pair and its consequences have been a beautiful thing for videogames.
Fun games with beautiful visuals, fun characters and cool directional shooting that makes for some really cool gameplay sequences. The sequel really feels like it's trying to impress you constantly and I think that's a good thing for any game to try.

First game is decent. Second is much better but iirc the game can drag on at points. It's a shame we'll never get a new game. There aren't many games like it. Also, I can imagine Battle Mania working well as a 3D shooter.

>>10866445
Indeed. We need girls like this in games more than ever.

I'm surprised there was never an option for co-op.

I was watching someone's 1CC and apparently you can easily max out your score before the end.

I always pictured a 3D game playing like a mix of Sin & Punishment, Einhander and Wild Guns. Keep swapping up camera angles and more on foot/running sections.

Cool games. I'm not shmup guy, but I really liked them. What else is out there with similar gameplay and/or looks?

The second game has my favorite soundtrack on Sega Genesis. The guitar is so good. I usually test emulators with it to make sure the sound is close to real hardware.

There was supposed to be one on the Dreamcast. I don't have too much information to share but it looks like it would have done the shifting camera thing.

Only played the 2nd one, fun game but too easy. I literally beat it on my 4th attempt on normal mode and I'm not even a big shmup player to begin with.
Perfect entry game to the genre I guess.

American version has one of my favorite covers of all time. It’s kitschy and epic.
A perfect encapsulation of the era.

I think it rides a very good difficulty line. It's not impossible or brutally difficult bullet hell, but it's not brain dead easy either. You have plenty of life and wiggle room to edge out but you can do better if you get good. And like you said it did take you a few tries to get good.

Highlights of the Genesis library, really wish they had more games.

It's supposed to be Vic Tokai/Tokai Communications, but I think there was some issue where they couldn't prove they held the rights to these games.

yeah but I'd rather that than dying because I couldn't predict some cluster of single perfect projectiles that clog the screen save for this one tiny microscopic safe spot
