Super Metroid would be a fantastic game without the wall jumping, but the wall jumping being there is what pushes it over the edge to be one of the all time greats. Without the one simple wall jump segment, many casual players would likely never find out about wall jumping, thus it's absolutely necessary to be there.

Im almost 30 I just didn't have video games until 6th gen

Most of my playtime these days is 4th and 5th gen but all of my absolute favorites are 6th gen and it will always be my favorite.
