Fuck you, Atari.

OP got me curious enough to Google. Apparently Atari owns the rights and shot down an attempt to remake it.

>> No.1083961

>>1083254
Wasn't a remake. Was a sourceport for modern OS that the creator of the game would have made for free.

All hope isn't lost though.

What is Blooo?

>> No.1084896

I know they've gone bankrupt and they're liquidating assets. Any news on the Blood franchise? Would love to see that source port. We need more Blooo.

it's a Foster's Person Shooter

The status of it as an asset is unfortunately still very flighty, basically the right to the blood franchise seem to be shared between both Atari and Warner Bros Games

This guy

At least it was released in GOG a while back

If I'm reading into things right, WB Games, who own Monolith Productions have the IP in their hands, while Atari who bought the original publisher (GT Interactive was bought by Infogrames, which in turn was bought by Atari) so they hold the publishing rights to Blood and Blood 2 and related materials (such as the source code).

I'm more worried about Rollercoaster Tycoon, myself.

I just hope EA doesn't get their dirty hands on it. It'll all go downhill from there.

Greedy fucking jews. they dont even know what it is, it's practically worthless to them but they still wont release the goddamn source code.

Atari is a company that's been going bankrupt I don't know how many times now since the 70s. They're like a demented old man, no way of saying what they'll do next.

Best - FPS - Ever.

Barely playable in modern PCs. We need that source code.

The weird thing is that Atari isn't the Atari you're thinking of. The classic Atari was bought by the company that now calls themself Atari. Infogrames bought GT Interactive which included Blood, then also bought Hasbro Interactive which came with the Atari license, then they said "you know what, let's just use Atari's name now"

Basically it's Infogrames Entertainment wearing Atari's skin on its face

>> No.1092171

>>1091482
Infogrames doesn't appear to be doing so well for itself anyway.

DnD: Daggerdale was a total trainwreck.

Their iOS games are some of the most obnoxious cash shops imaginable. (See their iOS asteroid game).

The only thing that looked remotely interesting was that Yar's Revenge reimagining. Did anybody play that?

>barely playable
This is complete bullshit. It runs just fine on even modern computers due to DOSBox.

>> No.1092630

>>1092558
It was barely playable back then either. Because it was bad.

>> No.1092821

All I wanna know is, has anybody in the history of this game, ever successfully shaken off one of those fucking hands? I have never been able to get one off in time to save my life. I hate those bastards. Please tell me its not just me! For the love of Tchernobog! How? How?

>> No.1092851

>>1092821

Back then I'd just mash the use button. I could shake off hands easy in Blood 2 but not those fucking Green Leeches.

Oh and Blood 2 sucks in general. Wish we could have one more go with the Blood Series. Apparently the Shadow Warrior reboot guys want to do a Blood Reboot/Remake.

>> No.1092864

>>1092821
I don't know if it had something to do with my DOSbox settings or maybe CPU usage but I didn't have nearly as much trouble with the hands recently as I did the first time I played.

Mash the "use" button and they tend to fly off, I think there might be a point of no return where you're fucked if you don't get them off quickly though.

>> No.1092870

>>1092558
I have played through all of Blood, Cryptic Passage, and Death Wish in DOSBox but I wouldn't say it runs "just fine." I have to lower the resolution quite a bit and usually shrink the window too so I can get a stable, constant 70fps. I've got an i5-2500K which is nothing amazing but certainly not wimpy either.

Compared to stuff like eDuke or the Shadow Warrior port, Blood suffers considerably, although not enough to discourage anyone from playing it I hope.

>> No.1092930

>>1092821
The first time I played the game I had no idea you could shake them off, so in levels where they are, I would just save scum and reload each time one caught me.

When I discovered they could be shaken off I facepalmed and I never had trouble with them ever again.

(it's one of those "things you didn't know and you beat the game")

Best hope we got so far, looks promising and has active development.
