You have to shoot him a few times until he starts limping. If you shoot the rocket at him before that threshold, he bats it away.

Nemesis can also dodge rockets and grenades in RE3, but it depends on distance, and they can't be dead-center.

I think this is actually explained in the canon part of Umbrella Chronicles. I think he had something of a 25% chance he'd stay dead and thus he was taking a huge risk by letting the Tyrant gut him. After that he gets up and escapes before the self-destruct sequence completes. It is, however, based on REmake so he fights Lisa Trevor on the way out. Also not /vr/ and released way after Code Veronica so interpret that however you like.

Actually the Tyrant is only supposed to mutate once he removes the coat (it acts as a limiter). Since this Tyrant has no coat, it's already on its mutated state. The ones that mutate a ton of times are G-Virus creatures (Birkin) and Nemesis.

It seems the T-Virus is the most stable of the bunch, since creatures infected by it don't rapidly mutate in response to external damage (like Birkin or Nemesis does). Even zombies have mutations (Crimson Heads and Lickers), but they take hours to accomplish (I'm pretty sure it takes days for a zombie to become a Licker).

Also I know there was originally going to be dum dum rounds for the magnum but they cut that. It probably because it was redundant because the magnum mostly killed most things in one shot already. Anyone know anything about these dum dum rounds or other cut content from RE1?

Specialization. Flame Rounds are good against spiders and Acid Rounds against Hunters. Actually, in every game after RE1 Acid Rounds demolish Hunters. In RE3Remake, it even removes their "armor" so you can hit them with normal weapons.

AFAIK originally normal magnum rounds were much weaker and the dumdum rounds were roughly equivalent to the magnum rounds in the final game. I still have a magazine guide somewhere that talks about saving the dumdum rounds for the giant spider boss.

Well the grenade boxes in RE1 all have the Umbrella logo on them so they're probably something kept on hand at the lab for their own security guards that also fit the launcher Forest had. I can buy a SWAT guy carrying a grenade launcher loaded up with tear gas or flashbangs or whatever. IRL 40mm launchers can fire all kinds of crazy shit from harmless chalk and smoke rounds up to HE grenades and miniature guided missiles.
