Batman Returns is pretty underrated. Released only in Europe in Brazil, but this is actually a first party Sega game developed in Japan.

Golden Axe Warrior is a better Zelda 1.

I'd say that Master System has a very strong library, its main issue was having the NES as its major competitor, that's a death sentence really, but overall it did well and if you had one, either on Europe or South America, since US didn't really get many releases, you'd be well off.

>only one item slot, meaning multiple trips to the menu to switch between weapons and tools
>Better Zelda 1

Nah. If they had two slots, I'd be inclined to agree, but that one fuck up can be felt throughout the entire game.

Many of the games you've listed here came out after the Genesis and are simply Game Gear ports with slight modifications.
The Master System had a shit library.

much worse than the game gear version, which is its own unique port

Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap
Yes this is the GG cover but it never came out on MS in Japan and the US cover looks like donkey shit

It coming out after the Genesis doesn't matter in the sense of it having a good library or not, good video games are still good video games and what makes a good library is just that. Also, the Game Gear argument is weak, because if anyone were to discuss the quality library the Game Gear had, often it's said that the Game Gear was just some portable Master System with screen crunch, both having similar libraries doesn't make the libraries of good video games suddently not good quality.

In all instances, the Genesis versions -- which came out first -- are better.

I'm sorry, but by that statement alone I can tell you haven't given the Master System the time of day, surely what you've said is true about all the Master System titles that are just ports of the Genesis, as in an attempt to have the Genesis title in 8-Bit, and in those cases it's essentially impossible for the Genesis version to not be better, since the port isn't just a port, it's a copy.

However, if you look at some of the titles I've listed, like Aladdin, Batman Returns, Castle of Illusion, Lion King, Sonic 1, Sonic 2, etc... you'll see that a lot of them are their own thing, and, depending on your experience with them and personal tastes, offer a better experience than the Genesis, and even if not better, different enough to justify experiencing them at least.

How can I give it the time of day? Have you seen the price of games? I don't believe in emulators.
I know they're their own thing, what I was getting at was the Genesis versions are better whenever one exists.
Is the MS Sonic the same as the Game Gear? Cause I own that and it's not as good as Genesis.

Respectfully, where are you from? Brazilians have an attachment that's based on rose-colored glasses. I don't want to strip your childhood, but jus be honest with yourself.

Also, Alex Kidd in High-Tech World sucks. I own that one for my MS. Truly dreadful.

On top of this why the fuck would you play the Master System ports of Game Gear games? The only upside is screen space, you are trading off higher color counts and stereo sound in the process which makes everything look and sound shittier than was intended.
