What's your favorite retro space vidya, /vr/?

>> No.1076203

I was going to say Noctis, but it turns out it was released in 2000.
Beyond that, then, I always really liked the Next Generation on Genesis.

Since Star Control 2 is already mentioned to hell and back, I'll go with the SNES RPG Cyber Knight which actually isn't all that good, but it has its quirks that make it interesting to play. I like it more than I ought to.

Before 2000 I'd played a total of two space games.

Lunatic Fringe was a screensaver for the mac and I didn't own one for long.

This motherfucker to this day is the only TBS that doesn't bore me to tears. I still say Petroglyph plagiarized it hard when they were developing Empire At War. Everything is a remix I guess.

<---, Silpheed and R-Type.

To think these retro games could render distant planets/star with only 2D graphics and modern consoles cannot render the closest things without pop-in issues V__V;

Gameplay-wise it would be either the Wing Commander series or I-war.

Personal impact- Wing Commander: Privateer. The atmosphere of the game really pulled me in. The designs and the action. The story and the smartass protag helped, too.
