I'm playing Final Fantasy III (via the Pixel Remaster...sue me) with the original soundtrack for the first time and I'm blown away by this OST. I know "Final Fantasy games have good music" isn't a particularly unique insight but this soundtrack is really sticking with me. I love how...melancholic the overworld themes are

2 is even better because the OST is like that too AND the story is also depressing

final fantasy 3 sucks ovaries

>forced Mini sections literally every 10 minutes
>insanely high encounter rate
>by the way, being Mini'd might as well be Death'd because any physical attack will OHKO you. Also your attacks do 1 damage
Garbage slop.

The only real mini section (I can remember) is the one in the temple never the Vikings, most of the time you just need to use mini to go through a door and then you can turn back to normal. It's dumb but not game breaking

Yes, and FF3 also features an interesting world, very sad how final fantasy shifted the focus to character development. It truly felt fantastical back then. If not for the forced jobs and lack of balance, I'd prefer it to 3. It should have been ported to the GBA with 1 and 2.

Final Fantasy 3 has a really cool vibe to it. The music compliments the adventure perfectly. It does have hell of short loops, though.

>> No.10763845

fuck now I need to add it to my pending list, probably will start with final fantasy. I never playe final fantasy before, my biggest question is: how much time do they take??
I work and can't play all day, and I have a lot of games in my pending list (zelda, metroids, castlevania, kirby, earthbound, etc...) and when I say pending games I mean SERIES, as in, want to get into them, they are so famous and great so I want to experience them, there's just too many of them and now I remembered final fantasy exist too FUCK

yeah the music is great.
i think it's where nobuo really started to solidify his style.
doga's theme is one of my favorite songs he made

i do like a lot of the PR renditions though.

3 is probably the best of the NES titles. I'm confused why it's never in the top 5 list of NES games.

Oh right Japan only release. You know I don't get why this wasn't released alongside the PS1 version of 2 and 1. Took what? decades until the pixel remaster.

You are not going to enjoy it with that mentality. Some of them takes more time, some less. A game like FF8 has 4 discs for example. If you don't have enough time, just focus on action games.

>> No.10764685

And the overworld theme is majestic, I don't know why none posted it earlier.

oh nono, forgot to mention an imporant detail: I'm not gonna play ALL the games (thats crazy haha), only the first ones, the retro ones. the 8-bit or 16-bit ones, games that should be short
that means the likes of zelda from the n64 are lesser priority (sadly)

how is final fantasy first games compared to mario rpg or sega's beyond oasis? (two games I recently played)

The reason 3 didn't get ported is because FF3 for the Wonderswan ended up being cancelled, Dawn of Souls uses FF1+2 for the Wonderswan Color as a base.

It was made by the same company. Structure wise they are very similar. When it comes to gameplay, FF has more complex system that relies on elemental damages and buffs. Now, about the story and characters, is so different. Depends on the game, FF3 the player characters are almost mute, unlike 2 or 4. They usually blend humor with tragedy.

That is what jrpgs are nowadays though. Story driven games, in which the RPG elements are just pointless big number goes up fluff

I played FF1 on NES (Retropie), and finally completed it for the first time since 1989 or so when I first played it. It felt cathartic.

It's not only the JRPGs. The moment D&D gave stats to creatures like the Tarrasque, players found a way to kill it. It all got boiled down to numbers game
