"PSX" is how the Playstation was universally referred to before the PS2 was announced. Check any gaming magazine you'd like. Almost no one used just "PS" (there was at the time a custom of three-letter designators that still remains today), but at least that is at least not confusing with other products.

"PS1" in hindsight is acceptable, but "PS One" or any iteration including "one" being spelled explicitly was a specific version of the PSX, and is just plain wrong to use.

372 Playstation prototypes were uploaded to Hidden Palace as part of Project Deluge. Of those prototype discs 139 had the acronym "PSX" written or printed on them. Only two had the acronym "PS". The rest had no acronym written.

This fucking argument again?

Some places even called the PS2 as PSX2, before the console was unveiled with the large "PS2" written on it.

In France it mas mostly playstation in full.
i heard the use of ps and psx, though the later was more used by grown ups like nerds and sellers who'd heard of early names.

PSX because at a quick glance it's distinct from PC, this is also why most piracy groups at the time called it PSX
