I love Mega-CD

>> No.10751450

Me too. 4th gen games on a cd has always been fascinating to me. Even the all the fmv crap has a certain charm. Although I'm sure spending all that money for a cd add-on and getting a shitty game that's a glorified qte dvd menu would really suck. Too bad the snes cd didn't happened

I own both and the model 1 works absolutely perfectly and as far as I can tell it's had no repairs done on it (I open it up every couple months to check the capacitors are still good though). My model 2 works but really struggles on fmv sequences

Got a model 1 recently. Turns on but the disc drive doesn't want to work properly and caps are beginning to look nasty. Got new caps and replacement parts on the way. Wish me luck fellas

Caps shouldn't be a problem to replace unless they've corroded the board. Never had to replace a disc drive, hopefully it's something simple like the belt. Good luck anon

The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin's often overlooked, with many pointing to Spider-Man's 2000 title by Neversoft as the 1st truly excellent Spider-Man video game... but I think this one's an amazing time, if feels almost open world in how its progression works, there's collectables, a new password system we didn't have in the Genesis, a stellar soundtrack, good graphics and controls...

I wish this got more recognition from people, its way ahead of its time, same goes for the Genesis and Master System/Game Gear versions despite the latter being a huge pain in the ass, holy shit...

Unless you're using a Backup RAM Cart or a flash cart, your battery is probably dead. I'm sad I lost my Lunar 2 save because of this.
Also, does anyone knows if there's a save manager for Mega CD? I never managed to import saves to my Mega Everdrive X5. It keeps asking me to format the backup RAM.

I was talking about the Mega CD, not the Saturn.
But in both cases, even if the game doesn't save directly to the RAM cart, you can transfer saves between the console and RAM cart.

>Soundtrack is excellent but I still need to play past the first stage or so
I can't recommend it enough, it's probably the only title to properly capture Spider-Man until Neversoft's title came along in 2000, the story and cutscenes are good fun, the pseudo open world structure, alongside the comic books to collect and the password system, make both its progression and exploration quite fun, control also sees a huge upgrade from the Genesis one.

It's all good fun, getting to the end, avoid those bad endings which are downright creepy, rescue MJ and go home with her... so you can get your reward in private, if you know what I mean...

I got two of these things used, and one seller confirmed that it was working, but still none of them could play any games. I'm guessing they're sensitive as shit and need to be handled EXTREMELY carefully in shipping.

>> No.10757576

>>10757547
I wouldn't say they're fragile, model 1 especially has a decent build quality to it. It's just the components are really old at this point, lasers are frequently dead, capacitors leaking, drive belts turned to dust. Have you opened it up and had a look?
