The RP4P is objectively so much better it's not even funny. DRAMATICALLY better controls: analogue sticks, d-pad, and face buttons. Probably shoulder buttons as well because I loved the feel on the 2S + that sick new texture, but the new anbernig shoulder buttons remain to be tested in my hands. D-pad in correct location, nice bumpy texture to the plastic rather than the pig disgusting smudge-magnet slop they used on the 556, far cleaner android image with neat features like the analogue mouse cursor mode, lighter and pocketable, wifi 6, quite a but more power (not a huge deal for me personally, but is for most people it is, and it's an objective advantage), WAY more and better color options, and frankly it just looks more aesthetic all around. Shame my shitty old eyes really wants that bigger screen, and shame I have such a hard-on for built-in ergos.

I had a rp3+ that I ended up selling and my big issue with that was anything requiring analogs became uncomfortable in extended play sessions so a grip would be required. Also the screen was just "okay" and didn't impress me that much. Everything else about it was good though.

I'm taking a gamble on the anbernig mainly for the oled and ergonomics. My plan is to test it on day 1 and if the analogs turn out to be unplayable for platformers, I'm returning it right away kek

Trimuifag here (because apparently I'm the only guy here who owns one). I tried MinUI with it, and the results were... mixed. The stuttering on GBA was gone, and the fast-forward went a lot faster than on stock, so there's definitely some kind of bloat going on in the stock firmware that isn't present with MinUI. The sleep also works a lot better, since it's more like OnionOS sleep, where it just quicksaves and turns off, and then quickloads back to where you were when you turn it on. It also has a cool sort of "universal compatability", where you can swap the card between multiple devices and retain all your saves and settings, with even your quicksaves starting you right back to where you were on the previous device. That said, there's a few caveats:
>no LED support for the sticks (small deal, but the whole appeal of Trimui is the slick presentation, so kind of a bummer)
>no stick support for PS1 games
>PS1 in general has a bunch of audio stutter without frameskip
>systems are limited (mostly supports 2D systems with a Nintendo bias + PS1, so no N64, no Dreamcast, no MAME, and no niche systems like Wonderswan or Neo Geo or 32X)
>no boxart
>have to make a folder with a TXT file of each ROM path just to make a favorites section
But the MOST damning flaw of all for me

>not even basic-ass BILINEAR filtering
This is the biggest thing holding me back from going all-in on this OS. I'm sure for, say, a Miyoo Mini, the screen is small enough to where a lack of filters isn't a big issue. But on a 5" 16:9 screen? Some GBA games have SUPER-pixelated art, where it's obvious they were relying on the LCD grid to soften it up a bit, but here you don't get that option.

I would go even one step further and say it should've been priced at the same point as the RP4 ie. $150. But I do think the screen is significantly better on a device that should be playing GC and PS2 and I think anbernig knows it too which is why they're charging a glorified extra +$35 for it. Okay. Assuming the whole "MinUI hotswap" feature works as intended, I think I finally have my handheld gameplan set in motion.

Imo if you want a good "all in one" handheld to play everything, RP4 is the way to go because of d-pad in correct position. I find I play and enjoy way more games if I just play on one device instead of trying to juggle several for different use cases. If you only want it for 3D games anyways and don't mind some heft, then Odin 2 is probably your best bet.

My opinion is that playing 2D games with d-pad on bottom fucking sucks, and on the Odin in particular the d-pad is in a REALLY bad position with how low and far away from the screen it is. Or at least on the Odin 1 I found the d-pad almost completely unusable because of the placement, might be better on the 2 but it looks similar. That's my rationale for why I don't view it as a good all in one handheld at least, I view it as a 3D game only machine.

In the context of someone who wants an all in one to play everything, I personally consider it a deal breaker because I can't play 2D games on it. A smaller d-pad centric chinkheld to play 2D games while the Odin is for 3D works well, but obviously that's no longer an all in one scenario. Not there's anything with with having multiple handhelds for multiple purposes, but if someone DID want an all in one (not saying he does), I prefer the RP4 for that role.

I've been playing sonic adventure 2 (DC) and kirby and the crystal shards (n64) on my RGB30 and they seem to be fine. No upscaling or anything fancy but the framerate stays consistent.

Another anbernig rg556 test video. Seems like it plays 3ds mostly okay but fails at the heavy hitters like xenoblade.

my 3.5mm audio output got fucked up because i accidentally inserted a really crooked headphone cable into it...

Hardware revisions sometimes break shit, like how there's two different CPU controller thingamajigs on RGB30s and later ones couldn't change between CPU perf modes for a while until he and JELOS people addressed it. Also, some people have a really hard time getting ArkOS to boot on RGB30 and no one can figure out why. Not exactly sure one this one, but think it was also the RGB30 where some units simply didn't play nice with higher frequencies while they did on JELOS. It's a lot of work you only really realize once you dive into pisscord and see the constant mayhem. These people are saints. Well, some of the JELOS people anyway, the others are stuck up cunts giving you shit at the slightest question despite not even having full documentation ready to go.
