Do you know any girls* that are into retro games?

*not trannies

a lot of normal women enjoy pokemon, N64, SNES. but not like in an autistic way

This. Add in Kingdom Hearts, too. I'm pretty sure girls are more into that series than guys are. DDR and Pop'n Music were big ones.

>> No.10734010

Yes, girls like Final Fantasy, Kirby, Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil

>> No.10734012

My girlfriend is a pokemon snap master and also knows all these autistic tricks in ocarina of time. And she fucking loves kingdom hearts. She's generally not into sidescrollers so that limits a lot of true retro stuff.

I have a Thai family friend who's probably in her early 40s now, and she's a huge Age of Empires 2 fan

My wife plays The Sims, she calls games like Contra "a speedrunner".

No they don't.
They adopt the hobby as a way to "claim" a male-dominated space and then proceed to exist within that space on a purely hypothetical level.
The most you'll ever see a (biological) girl interact with games is through non-gaming merchandise.

"Girls don't like video games" was a holdover from the 80s that remained in the public consciousness for longer than it should have because of pop culture momentum.

A lot of women play Candy Crush and The Sims, doesn't mean they like games in general. Let's be real, a well adjusted woman won't bother getting into the medium because she's gonna spend most time dating or shopping or traveling or whatever

No shit though. Even I don't "like games in general." I bet you don't either. People have tastes and niches.

>>10734089
I meant that outside very specific, easy accessible games women see that medium as something meant for sweaty basement dwellers, which is true. Most video game fans are just autists

I'm starting to think your problem is with well adjusted people who treat gaming as just a way to pass the time, not specifically women. I'm probably a filthy casual by your standards of what a gamer is.

This didn't happen. What really happened is you were just a loser. It had nothing to do with video games.

I only have problem with people who claim to like a broad category of things while only consuming a couple of them. It's comparable to saying you're a music fan while listening to 2 songs on repeat.

Modern women play games, yes. But they play *modern* games mostly. They are usually not interested in retro unless they're the same age as us (30+)

The only girl I talk with is currently 27 years old and she likes Pokemon, starting from GBA onwards and displays some moderate interest in Kirby and Sonic franchise, as well as 2000s PC games of her childhood. But she won't play NES or something like that.

Male zoomers are interested in retro games?

that's literally when pokemon died. 2nd gen was meant to be last gen which is why they included gen1 in gen2, and everything past it was milking the franchise without care put into it

> muh og gen 1 is the only true pokman!!!

Salty boomer mentality. I'm 33 and remember myself being like that too when I started playing Ruby as 14yo kid back in 2004.

"What is this? The design of pokemon became dumb, there's not a single good looking starter etc etc"

Then I went and had one of the comfiest adventures of my gaming life.

And I liked X/Y and Sun too. Everything else really was a mixed bag to me

Yeah, they get into video games mostly through other men (relationships or parents). This is not because they're women, but because home console retro games are not particularly social.

And that's fine. Not sure if I'd ever want to date someone that is into video games in particular beyond wanting to watch me play.

women don't like videogames. no ifs or buts about it. the ones that """"do"""" have something wrong about them, they're doing it to try and prove a point or they're dykes and force themselves into men's hobbies for some sort of twisted roleplay fulfillment
