Nah. That is an actual cope. They used the correct instrument. The guy who posted that YouTube video was just trying to make it sound better. All he really did by "changing the instrument" was practically entirely mute the horn part just so he could overpower it with long, stereotypical synth horror sounds. Definitely not the original composer's intent.

The original composition is just bad. Besides, the remix/fix still sucks, it's just not as grating due to muted effects. There was no error here, just bad work.

It's funny how divisive this one is. I personally do hate it, but I think it's because I hate the color scheme of Chrono Cross and its eyeblinding color saturation and contrasting colors everywhere. It's only amplified in its ugly battles filled with weirdo shitty characters. So you throw over that that battle theme which comes off as hectic spaghetti, and it all just comes together to be shitty.

Weirdly, the battle theme seems a lot more tolerable to me in Radical Dreamers because it actually kinda fits the atmosphere, pacing, and text format of it. So I think it's less the music itself and more the game it's attached to. Or maybe the updated Playstation composition is worse, I dunno. But I hear a lot of people say they love this song for some reason and I've never liked it.
