What games have you played on a famiclones?
I played Circus Charlie, Mario 1, Somari and a Nuts and Milk bootleg called Mario and Luigi with their sprites

>> No.10649315

I think most people have played the same few twenty games from famiclone multicarts.

During the last days of OG Famiclone popularity (2002 or so), I asked mom to find a cartridge with Pokemon game. I didn't know if it exists, but I felt it should because Pokemon anime was at peak of popularity in my country just around that time.

She brought 4-in-1 cartridge, which had 2 shitty Dragon Ball Z games (i think those were SNES ports), 1 romhack of Little Nemo with Sandshrew instead of Nemo and 1 original game about Pikachu in the woods that was the most playable game on the cartridge. Had a mild fun with it.

Next time I asked mom if we can look up for a Power Rangers game. We've found one and I thought it's a bootleg too (Rangers looked weird and bootleg-ish on the cover, but the image were actually took from Lightspeed Rescue season, which haven't aired on TV yet at that time). I finished the game in one evening and was slightly disappointed you can't ride zords, but still loved it. Years later i've found out that was an official Zyuranger game. It's a very simple but nice game which is recommended to play if you like MMPR.

I discovered Gun Nac through a ten dollar Five Below handheld (before they removed all of the good games). It's a fantastic shmup if you are looking for something fun and easy.

Also Mitsume Ga Tooru, Adventure Island series (every single time), Double Dragon II, Kick Master... Most of the time I just play Mario, Donkey Kong, or Tetris on mine though. I really wish they would put Mega Man 3 back on these, but then I guess that's why X6/GB300/etc. exist

If you really like Tetris and Pokemon, there is also a fun unlicensed Tetris game that has a Pikachu sprite in the middle that moves around when you clear lines and move up levels. This one is still on the Five Below handheld if you can find it anywhere

Can anyone recommend me some good Famiclone handhelds? I only know of Game Box Plus, G5, G50, PVP, the thin one, and one that resembles a Game and Watch

The Samurai Pizza Cats game was popular around here. Bootlegs used to call it Ninja Cat I believe, which was how it was known.

You are essentially getting a portable NES with built in games, battery, and backlight that you can plug into a TV or play on the go for pennies on the dollar. It's the best value if you just want to play some Mario, Tetris, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Galaga etc. for a few minutes in between tasks just like the original Game Boy. They have a similar minimalist charm to them, only less expensive and with a better battery and screen. You come for the novelty and stay for the coziness, like your favorite mug or other cool trinkets you randomly find in the store. The low price just makes them easier to collect, like Tamagotchi's or Pokemon cards.

Late 90s balkans, I remember my favorites being Spiderman return of the sinister six, Banana Prince, Aladdin, some weird Dracula/Frankenstein co-op game, a few others.

I don't look back on this period with nostalgia because games weren't all that fun, peripherals quality was dog shit and you would often have to re-solder controllers and on average kids went through 3-4 different famiclones which weren't cheap in inflation and war torn balkans back then. Especially when more fortunate kids would have ps1s sent from relatives abroad and you knew what you were missing out on.

When I got my ps2one in 2001 or so was an eye opening moment, rivaled only by my first PC in 2004.

M.C. Kids is a great game (top western platformers for sure) but the Mario hack makes it even better.
Mario and Luigi's sprites > random POC kids

Welcome to warehouse floor
It'll take some time to move that box
Impossible to pull them out
For, you see, the space is much to cramped
Computer game to rule the world
Dendy cart for a couple bucks
Possibly I've played too much
Sklad 18, I know too much

Retard anon here, were there a lot of genesis and snes clones? I feel like I never hear about those. Master system clones in Brazil?

Mega Drive was cloned up the wazoo. SNES clones existed but they were extremely rare.

Interesting, did the internals have anything to do with ease of cloning? MD having a 68000 versus the snes internals (what was it a Ricoh or something I can’t remember)?

I don't think that Mega Drive has any unique chips inside. Even VDP is a Yamaha chip. You can gain 99% compatibility with off the shelf parts. SNES, on the other hand, has unique video and audio processors.
