It's 2024
How long does it take to be considered retro?
Retro comes from the French word retro, meaning to move backward. The world's first use of this term was in 1972, encompassing colorful new technology and fashion until the 1990s. Any item "fifteen" years old can be considered a retro item.
It's been 18 years, 2 months, 9 days
The seventh generation of home video game consoles began on November 22, 2005, with the release of Microsoft's Xbox 360 home console.
Also 4 is better than 3 MGS

None of the games we call retro are actually retro, they are old. Shovel Knight is a retro game, Mega Man 2 is an old game.

That said around here it's usually roughly 20 years or so.

They'll probably update the rules when gen 10 comes out. I hope so.

We should be allowed to discuss 7th Gen here that's all I'm saying
It's been long enough
It was 18 years ago
It takes 15 years for something to be considered "retro"
Local old videogame stores stock PS3 and 360 and Wii stuffs
Inb4 PS3 has no gayms

In honesty, I'd rather not have the 7th generation (PS3 and Xbox 360) and onwards on /vr/ because they have radically changed the video game landscape with the rise of the Western game devs while the Japanese devs lost their dominance for good to the point that major powers like Sony, Square Enix and Capcom are following Western trends.

I'd still wish the Wii, Nintendo DS and the PSP would be approved on this board someday though.

>muh 20 year time limit
this is obviously retarded as games have not fundamentally changed at all in the past 20 years outside of diminishing returns in graphics. doom 3 is turning 20 this year. no one is going to play it, then play doom eternal, and think that the former is retro in any meaningful sense.
