this game was a step in the right direction
I'm no fan of sonic but I caught the trailer on tv and wanted to play it

the real problem was that for later games they went for a different direction:
in the end sega just refuses to give up arcadeish gameplay and mechanics
and still think in 1-2 minute long play sessions while long adventure games
these games would need a lot more polish than what they do

the problem is that they are trying to make non-arcade games with arcade thinking
they got enough material for 30 mins of gameplay and stretch it out to 10-12 hours
and end up with these very large, very open, very empty games
