Actually insane how small these things are.

This was a horrible design because it made kids think you transport it by carrying it around by the handle, instead of holding it carefully like a baby so that its very easily fucked up laser doesn't shake out of place. If you made a regular habit of bringing your Gamecube places you learned a lesson about bullshit design pretty quickly.

Saturn has a better controller for 2D, PlayStation has a better general use controller, and Saturn's 3D controller, Dreamcast and modern XBOX One and Series X/S controllers are better for this sort of asymmetrical design, so no, it's not the best. It is still quite good however, but has some issues.

I hate silver console units because they almost never use actual silver plastic but black plastic painted with a thin coat of silver paint instead. It makes them look like utter shit if they're scratched because you can see the actual color of the plastic poking out from below the paint layer. And considering that Gamecube came out in 2001 and was mostly used by children, almost all units out there are badly scratched nowadays.
