Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin (8-Bit)
It's both the hardest video game I've managed to finish, and also the hardest one I gave up on due to it being too much for me... and that's because of it's difficulty settings, "Difficult" felt almost impossible, but I did it after a long while trying to do it, but "Nightmare" was a different beast, and I couldn't finish it, not even come close if I'm being 100% honest about it, it beat me up good.

I don't dislike it though, maybe I should try again.

Bonanza Bros. on Master System, I found this to be way harder than the Genesis version, a lot of that comes from changes in enemy behavior, or probably the fact that your gun has no reach at all compared to the enemies, it's a fun time, but I'm only able to beat it on the easiest settings it offers, and even then I just barely beat it aswell.

It's a good version though, I recommend it a lot.

The SNES Star Wars trilogy. I beat them all as a kid after playing them to death, it wasn't until over a decade later I learned that they were considered to be hard. When you're a kid you just play what's in front of you.

Sunsoft's adaptation of Tim Burton's Batman, on NES/Famicom. I had this one as a kid, but I wasn't good at it, barely made it to the 2nd level when I played it, and don't recall ever making it to a 3rd level, not even once... but recently I've picked up this one to finally finish it, and it was a pain... I've still done it, but the last few levels, especially the last one, was rough... Joker was a son of a bitch.

A four three to four grind for a game that only lasts like 14 minutes if you can make it to the end.
Second hardest is mega wad from DOOM called Sunlust. That one put me into a depressive state but it asks the player to do multiple different things while Tetris is more like three things at best.

Same... not only is it a much better video game than the 8-Bit version, but the 8-Bit version has the Symbiote locked behind "Nightmare" mode, which is the only reason I ever tried to beat it on this difficulty, also even getting the thing is quite tricky. It sucks that the worst version got such a cool thing, and the better ones didn't, I don't go as far as thinking the 8-Bit one is bad, but all of that "ONE GUY? NO CONTINUES?" really ruins the fun of it for me, it's too punishing to me.
