10625215 No.10625215 [Reply] [Original]

i installed mGBA recently and its missing the shaders so i cant make it look like anything but the default regular colors and everything which looks way off from the actual gameboy advance screen

everywhere i look i only see people implying this only happens if you have a graphics card not compatible with openGL 3.0 or how to fix it in retro arch, but im using a fucking rtx 3080 and dont want to bother with retroarch

what gives

Just use retroarch retard, it's exactly the same as standalone just with shader support, way more customization, way more features, and better a/v sync

Don't scan content, Anon. Just change the folder directory on RetroArch so that it picks up the folder with all your retro games. Also get mGBA from the core downloader. Afterwards, just play around with shaders.

Look for a YouTube tutorial or something.

>> No.10626185

>>10626123
Just do manual scan. That way you can have games organized by console and don't need to manually select the core every single time.

I'll never get this whole thing with RetroArch's UI being hard to understand and navigate, and how people need tutorials for it... all you do is go into the online updater and core installer, get all of its cores you actually want, scan your ROMs... and its all you need, you're good to go. Is this just a case of zoomers being tech illiterate? It's odd, since it looks like a lot of boomers hate RetroArch too.

I guess it's not really a generation thing, but it's more about how brainlets of all ages can't figure this stuff out despite it being so easy, I love how RetroArch filters out retards so seamlessly too.

This looks more like a shader made to trigger trypophobia plus it looks too washed out (GBA games often look washed out on emulators because they were made to compensate for the dark screen before the SP model)
For me it's lcd-grid with boosted LCD Input Gamma in the parameters to make it less harsh on the eyes

So... is RetroArch for zoomers and the people who hate it are just boomers who can only use the standalone emulators they already know, or is RetroArch for boomers who know computers and zoomers hate if because they're iliterate? I keep getting confused over what's the case.

I love RetroArch by the way, and in my personal case, I'm a zoomer, but I've heard both of these narratives before and it confuses me somewhat.

Unless you're playing on a CRT, adding artificial blur is fucking retarded. Modern displays (even OLED) are already blurry as fuck due to persistence blur.

I don't see how, it's all divided in categories that make sense and, even without using the search function or looking things up online, finding stuff you need isn't hard, you go from left to right to find the proper category, then you scroll to find the sub-category that fits what you want, all you do is look and follow your intuition and you'll see that everything's where it has to be, it's so easy.

When did this whole "RetroArch has bad UI" turn into a staple? I see it around all of the time and it kept me from trying out RetroArch for years, and then I did and instantly figured it all out easily.

It's the same as any other emulator UI I've used, with the exception that it's more suited for use of controllers, which is what I use when I emulate anyways, so it's very much perfect for me there.

Not him but retro arch on the vita or switch works like a charm. It's super easy to set up. I've not installed it on pc because for some reason it was a pain in the ass on pc while it was piss easy on handheld.
What makes the pc version different?

I'm assuming because the GUI was different? You can change that in settings if you prefer the XMB menu
