The expensive Batman game for the SNES that's based upon the animated series is supposed to be a lot of fun.

These movies has always been enjoyable to me. The first two Burton Batman movies were masterpieces. Batman Forever is fun to watch, Kilmer nails it as Batman. Batman and Robin has it's flaws, yet I find it more entertaining than The Batman (2022)

I definitely recommend checking out the Master System/Game Gear versions of Batman Returns if you haven't already, OP. I know that the SNES' is seen as the definitive version, it's a Konami beat 'em up afterall, but its platforming and grappling hook mechanics make it resemble the NES and Genesis Batman titles based on the 1st film a lot, and since I love those, I love these versions too.

I personally like the Master System version more, as it has more focus on the grappling hook and a lot of platforming challenges, but the Game Gear is also good with it's more action/combat focus.

I haven't watched The Batman yet, though it looks like a good film, I was a bit turned off from it when I saw that they race swapped both Gordon and Catwoman, especially since no one seemed to care, and those that did were gaslit and painted as racist despite the fact that we all know the reaction would've been way different if it was the other way around, it's pure hypocrisy.

I'll likely pirate it out of sheer curiosity, Batman himself looks good, and I liked the use of Nirvana in the trailer, a shame Catwoman looks so lame though, Michelle Pfeiffer this certainly ain't.

Also, this My Chemical Romance look for Batman has grown on me the more I saw it, I probably won't like it as much as the 80s/90s films, nor the 2000s ones, but it might still be worth a watch.

I'll definitely check those versions out, as I do enjoy exploring Batman games of the past. As for definitive versions of the Batman movie games, this is how I rank them...

Batman = Arcade Version
But since I can't physically own the arcade machine, I bought the Genesis version, since it's also closer to the movie.

Batman Returns = SNES

Batman Forever = Arcade version
Unfortunately I canxt own this arcade machine either. The Saturn version was overpriced on eBay. Luckily I bought the PS1 for cheap and I can play it on my PSP, PS1, PS1 mini, PS2 and PS3.

Batman And Robin = PS1 (seems to be the only system it was on)

The old serials didn't have video game adaptions. Although I do own those serials on DVD. I also have Batman Begins, along with the video game(Xbox) and soundtrack, but that's a completely different series of Batman films. Neither of them has anything to do with the Burton/Schumacher movies.

I mean, if we're talking about films in general, I'd say hundreds of times, if we're talking about few more famous cases then it's obviously happened less, but enough for "whitewashing" to be a term people use in these discussions, and for this topic to even exist in the first place, it's usually a thing reserved for secondary characters, like in Batman as we've mentioned, but still it shouldn't happen.

I'd say the cases that have gotten the most public attention have been manga/anime adaptations in recent years, so Ghost in the Shell, Death Note or even Avatar: The Last Airbender if it counts as an anime, but we've also had Prince of Persia, so we can keep this in topic with video games, and stuff like Blade and Spawn if we take a look over at the comic book adaptations from the 1990s/2000s.

It's always been a thing, and I don't think that's at all good, but these are the only times when there seems to be more media attention and its looked down on, afterall its oppressing a minority group.

As I've mentioned before, whenever a case of the infamous "whitewashing" happens we get media attention, articles and overall discussion about it being wrong, but whenever a minority groups is replacing a white character instead, and fans just criticize for finding that to still be wrong, there's some form of retaliation, with media and leftists trying to explain why it's suddently not only this genuinely alright thing to do, it's actually great! And if you don't like it, you're clearly a racist, but you're still supposed to hate it when its the other way around, it's an obvious double standard too.

It's not important in the sense of culture or even identity, I'd say their nationality and the city they live in are more important for that, so Gotham in this specific case, but you can't deny that visual identity and design are parts of a character and how we perceive them, if you talk to me about, I don't know, Gordon, I know what he looks like, I know what Selina Kyle looks like, it's that simple.

Of course we have different takes on characters, different interpretations, but having them look like the character should be standard, that goes for things that aren't skin color, you don't make a character who's fat suddently fit, or vice versa, as you don't make a short character tall, vice versa... why would you make a character who's white and has always been white, suddently become black?

I personally believe it's for a political agenda, as we all know that the other way around is looked down on, seen as racist and wrong, so why is that not the case here? Why should I not criticize it?

It's not a matter of the race itself is important for who they are as people and characters, it's just that if they were black and got replaced by white actors this argument of "how is that important?" wouldn't get used and, even worse, would even be seen as racist, and I'm sure you do know that.

I don't browse /pol/, I couldn't care less about seeing politics all of the time, it drives people crazy and gets stressful, it's just that when this stuff gets so forced in media and I'm labeled as a racist simply for calling it out, then yes I'm going to be on the same side as the people who also call this out, it doesn't mean I browse there or agree with them on everything, it's that simple.
