>the Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga prototype released over two months ago still has next to nothing on TCRF
Sonic furfags are something else.

I found the elder scrolls travels: oblivion prototypes for psp interesting, especially since the game was cancelled and never released. Its different from the pc version. Theres 5 playeable prototypes available, all different from one another. You can find them here:
https://hiddenpalace.org/The_Elder_Scrolls_Travels:_Oblivion_(Jun_9,_2006_prototype)
(And the other ones below on that page)
Also the Gothic Sequel prototype was cool, which was also cancelled. You can find it on the same site as the psp oblivion prototypes (which is the best internet ressource for prototypes). The Gothic Sequel was supposed to be a standalone addon for Gothic 1, and you can play the whole first chapter of it in the prototype. Others I found interesting were the half life 1 and 2 prototypes.

M&L prototype just doesn't look very promising. A Paper Mario 64 proto would be much cooler.

It's a doubled edged sword, on one hand it's nice to see nintendrones not foaming funcopops out of their mouths at the sight of a piece of Nintendo software, on the other hand it really shows their consumerist nature by letting a piece of videogame history fall to the wayside because it's not the right Mario game. It also throws cognitive dissonance into the mix because they are so rabid about their loyalty to Nintendo.

The Sonic scene is just in too deep to the point where protos get extensive documentation.
There was some documentation over the M&L proto, but most of the neat stuff is either on Youtube or Tw*tter.

>because it's not the right Mario game
I don't know, Mario & Luigi SS was/is rather popular and has achieved online meme status in the years since the release. Hell, Nintendo themselves even officially released a poster of it within the last year. I get the feeling that the remaining Nintendiedildobabies in the online prototype scene are aged and now just focus primarily on buying shit, or otherwise seem to lack the concentrated autism and time to fully document things. The Sonic prototype community seems to reproduce, so there's always terminally online early twentysomething Sonicfags with nothing better to do than sit around and write essays about all the specific ways in which Sonic's model can break in the v0.998b prototype of Sonic Meets the Backyardigans for the Leapster.

For me it's Rockman X prototype

https://www.youtube.com/embed/QtLVhqxdMvI

(after 7:56)

>Different sprites
>Unused enemies (some still in final code)
>Incomplete layouts

Also to make you even happier about it, the faggot nip collector actually showed this prototype at the end of last year, but he didn't allow anyone to capture footage.

There are also earlier pics, of what is know as the white city, but it could be a mock up.

the two recently public Silent Hill prototypes are my favorites. Knew they were a thing for years, but only recently did someone bother sharing a rip.
Lots of differences and incomplete parts, like enemies appearing in places they normally don't, changed puzzles, camera angles, textures... Plus a lot of small changes that will only be noticable to hardcore SH fans. The oldest proto is insanely difficult without cheating, it has like 3 medkits and only handgun ammo.

Nobody actually knows how far along that Rockman X prototype is, other than it definitely isn't the one in that video. Whatever he has features a near final stage select screen (off the top of my head, the background graphic is missing and two of the portraits/stages were swapped around compare to final). For as much as people are jerking off to his cart, I can say with some degree of confidence that it is much further along in development than what people are speculating.

It's just normal net decadence, actually
I have seen videos of stuff in the proto that's not even in the article. So, basically, once again, this shit finds itself in youtube and probably plenty of other places instead of where it should actually be
Meanwhile, the Sonic community has basically kickstarted all of this prototype obsession so I'm not too surprised to see they have dug into it thoroughly already. What's impressive however is that the Sonic Heroes proto is boring while M&L actually has loads of unused content, wtf?

That was such a nothing tier release, they dedicated like six hours on twitch to that shit after a french guy dropped 11 builds of Vectorman for PS2, VGHF dropped an unreleased NES game and someone recovered 86-DOS version 0.11, HP did two letdowns in a row if you include that Crash 3 stream too

>> No.10576768

It's free. A lot of their releases are just to help publicize other peoples' dumps by giving them a formal release so they're not overlooked like 99% of proto dumps.

The problem is that they heavily need to do a documentary style stream for these releases that aren't immediately obviously interesting
It's cool we have them, but a 6 hours stream of someone going through Sonic Heroes with just mostly details missing (and god forbid, if you never actually played it) is just basically the worst way to present it for the first time to everyone
