Sonic and Crash are, in character and design, the epitomes of the eras they originated in. Just look at those comparisons and tell me they don't make sense:
Sonic is cool and collected, Crash is wild and careless
Sonic is Michael Jackson, Crash is Lenny Kravitz
Sonic is Ferris Bueller, Crash is The Pest
Sonic is Bart Simpson, Crash is Poochie
